Inside Look – OurDream and Spicychat AI Face Off

As a serial reviewer of online AI Girlfriend platforms (yes, it’s a thing, and yes, I’ve reviewed multiple), I thought it time to compare two of the most popular AI chat platforms in the genre: OurDream and Spicychat AI. But before we get into the weeds, let me just say that I tested these like the equivalent of choosing a coffee date, with interest, some cynicism, and a great deal of amusement. Overall, I find that the two platforms diverge a bit in terms of getting the user invested, excited, titillated, or just talkative. So, let’s dive in.

OurDream

OurDream is less of a chat platform, and more of an experiential creative experience. As soon as you enter the website, you are presented with choices, and begin to create your AI girlfriend. Not only can you change the way that she looks, but also the way she communicates, and responds to you. You can even personalize the voice and image she uses. And the AI reacts to the way you interact with it. I’m not gonna lie, it starts to feel real, and that “ wait… is this real life” feeling can be jarring. And yes, it allows you to generate uncensored images and videos as well, blurring the line between roleplay and content creation in a way that can’t be ignored.

Spicychat AI

Spicychat AI is a bit different. I describe this as the platform for naughty chat, and character development. It’s big on customization, and dirty talking, and even includes the ability to create backstories, and develop personalities. The memory system uses a token-based economy, where you can buy a “better” memory allowing the AI to remember more, and respond longer, as opposed to pay per view/image/video. It’s like the difference between buying companionship and buying a souvenir. And yes, naughty bits are front and center.

Diversity

Here I’m referring to the variety and range of expressions possible within the platforms. It’s not a simple check box but more sense that you could be meeting someone new each time you start the application.

OurDream Diversity

In OurDream you can create a variety of characters that feels like walking down the high street and bumping into different people. Want an anime girl with a big sword? Done. How about a quiet, brooding poet? Easy. The number of combinations possible in OurDream seems quite high and as you are crafting your own characters rather than selecting from a range it’s possible to achieve most ideas you have whether they be fun, serious, intellectual, perverse or quirky. The diversity here feels very much in terms of ideas.

Spicychat AI Diversity

Spicychat AI has its diversity in terms of the number of pre-built characters and the level of customisation possible. Beyond choosing the looks and the voice you can adjust their personality, their way of speaking and even their memory capacity which influences their emotional response. Want to be romancing a character one minute and talking space facts with another the next? You can do that. Here the diversity is more around interactions and responses rather than looks.

AI Chat Head to Head

Let’s start with chat, which is obviously the make-or-break factor in these products. OurDream can sometimes be shockingly chatty, which is also its ability to recall previous conversations and then return to them at a later time. I’ve actually laughed out loud on several occasions. Spicychat shines when it comes to its token response system. You see, tokens are the primary unit of measurement of how deep the AI goes into the context to respond. The higher your subscription plan, the more tokens the AI can draw from. And the more tokens, the longer the messages, and the deeper the context, which results in the AI being able to actually seem to understand you rather than just react.

I’m going straight to the point and into the zone of corniness with this test. I asked the AI “What would you whisper to me in private?” and to be honest I was hoping for a realistic, non-cheesy answer. I got something that sounds like a naughty rooftop midnight conversation.

The AI flirted lightly and didn’t jump into anything sexual, and I can already see the style and vibe this AI tool has. It’s well written, emotionally intelligent and rather subtle. Spicychat AI Chat Test

I tried a different approach with this one. I’m playing the character a bit and asking a naughty question to see how she responds under pressure and what her personality is like. The answer I got has attitude, inner monologue, and a narrative.

The AI is not only responding to my question but acting, and it’s feisty, defensive, and still dripping with anticipation, as if the girl is rolling her eyes at me. Comparing Character Visuals

Finally, we have what I consider the icing on the cake; visually seeing OurDream in action.

You can create graphics (which can be completely naked if you so desire) of your AI girlfriend, and it feels a little fulfilling seeing a mental image you had in your head transformed into what looks like a decent if not great looking image.

Not everything you create will turn out perfect, but the attempt, more often than not, to actually create what you envisioned is what sets this apart from a simple text only adventure.

OurDream Photo Generator

I decided to nudge OurDream a bit and see what would happen if I requested something cinematic, moody, and somewhat sensual. The output was a night beach with a campfire in the foreground and my AI girlfriend on her knees in a towel with the moonlight bouncing off of the waves in the background. This isn’t just “here’s a pretty girl.” There’s an atmosphere. There’s lighting. There are sparks, shine from the wet skin, depth of field, etc. All drama-core.

What I was trying to do wasn’t so much to see how much nudity I could get away with, but to see if I could create a scene. Could I evoke an emotion or a vibe? Could I get something that feels like a movie screenshot rather than an Instagram post? Frankly, I was a little impressed. It leaned harder into realism and mood than I was expecting. Spicychat AI Photo Generator

I approached Spicychat AI from a slightly different direction. Rather than going for cinematic, I opted for modern and intimate. A softly lit kitchen at night with city lights in the background through the window, and my AI girlfriend standing between two cameras as if she was in the middle of a photoshoot. A satin robe and a pose, the lighting controlled. It’s clearly meant to evoke a produced feeling, sort of influencer-y, and that was sort of the goal.

In this case, I was looking for polish and control. Can Spicychat produce an image that looks “produced”? Does it know about framing and composition and the sort of aesthetic that goes into a social media post? The answer, at least in this case, is yes, it absolutely does. It very much evokes a sense of curated fantasy. Compared to the beach scene, it’s less rough around the edges, more deliberate, more studio-like. Different vibe, different fantasy.

OurDream Token Pricing

Let’s now take a look at what the token pricing looks like on OurDream. When you go to the dreamcoin store, you’ll see a tiered pricing structure with discounts. You can see that the smallest package is 1,000 dream coins for 11.99. Then, the price per 1,000 coins decreases if you buy the 5,000 dream coin package for 49.99 or the 20,000 coins package for 159.99. So, pretty standard bulk pricing.

These coins are used to purchase multimedia features. For example, it costs coins to generate an image or a video or have a phone call. According to the help center, “Dreamcoins are required for image and video generation, as well as phone calls. Dreamcoins are received monthly as part of your subscription and can also be purchased separately if you need more.”

So, the token packages are really cool because you can decrease your price per coin when you purchase in bulk. The discounts you see in the screenshot, 20% off, 33% off are common discounts they provide. So, it’s a discount for spending more, and the idea is to encourage you to make as many multimedia purchases as you need, without running out of coins.

In both screenshots, you can see that OurDream’s pricing model is a combination. There’s a monthly subscription that unlocks everything and includes a certain number of coins. Then, there’s a token model to purchase more coins in bulk to decrease the price per coin.

Let’s take a look at what the subscription price looks like for OurDream. When you access the subscription page, you’ll notice that there is a 75% discount for Valentine’s day. They want to give you a “Premium Monthly” subscription. Let’s look at the screenshot. So based on the information here, we can see that normally, the premium monthly subscription is 39.99, and currently with the valentine’s day discount, it’s 19.99.

Based on reviews we’ve read, we know that it’s usually 19.99 for the premium monthly subscription which unlocks everything.So, with the premium monthly subscription, you get 1000 dream coins per month, unlimited messages, image/video generation, phone calls, and you can post your characters. So, basically, your subscription unlocks your chat and all multimedia features. Instead of paying for each of those separately. It’s not pay per use like other sites, as OurDream boasts.

Spicychat AI Token Pricing

It’s worth noting that Spicychat doesn’t have a “this many images will cost this many credits” type system. Everything on the site is based around tokens, an internal “currency” the AI uses to generate messages. Depending on what plan you’re on, you’re allocated a certain number of tokens.

Free users will have a fairly low token limit (likely in the low thousands), while the highest plan “I’m All In” has a maximum of 16,384 tokens. As you can likely guess, this lets the AI keep more of a memory of the things you talk about, letting it respond with longer messages.

Unlike some other sites, there isn’t really a “token packs” shop where you can buy more tokens to use in addition to your plan. Instead, the token limits are a part of the plan you pay for, and they influence how much memory the AI has (both for character info and message history). The memory/persona sliders actually adjust how many tokens your AI is allowed to use to respond to a message, and how far back it can look.

Due to the way this is structured, Spicychat’s cost isn’t so much based around how much individual images and messages cost, but more on the token limit. You pay more to not have the chatbot run out of tokens in the middle of a conversation, or forget things you told it hours ago. This is a bit of a different feel to token systems on other sites, and users tend to notice that the higher plans are more enjoyable because of it.

Spicychat AI  Subscription Pricing

So, I dove into Spicychat AI’s pricing page and here’s what you see right away: the monthly tiered plan that gets you access to more things. The lowest monthly plan called “Get a Taste” is around $5.00/mo which appears to give you ad-free browsing, removes wait times, and gives you more memory and persona storage. The middle plan “True Supporter” is around $14.95/mo and appears to give you more memory, longer response length, more models, and image conversation support (based on their website).

The highest plan “I’m All In” is around $24.95/mo which gives you all the above, priority generation, 16k context, text to speech and more (based on their website).Some people note that if you pay for a year at a time you save around 17% of each plan cost (which is shown at the top of their pricing page).

These prices are what I’ve seen consistently across the web, but you know how this is with all virtual girlfriend apps, you pay monthly for more and more customization and better AI response.

Comparing Feature Sets and Prices

Having read through the two pricing pages from start to finish, I noticed early on that these two platforms are selling very different products.

OurDream felt like it had a hybrid system. The monthly membership gets you access to everything and also some coins, but they have that coin store there, so if you know you’re gonna be making lots of images, videos, phone calls, etc., then it’s best to buy a lot of coins, the more you purchase the better the coin rate. It’s almost like you’re paying for interactive multimedia content.

Spicychat AI is the opposite. They don’t have a token shop to purchase more. Everything is based on your monthly subscription. The higher the subscription, the more memory, longer messages, and more fluid conversations you’ll have. You’re not paying for each feature, you’re paying for more context and conversation. The fact that it works this way also changes the experience in my opinion.

Ultimately it depends on which type of service you need more. If you’re more into multimedia generation, then OurDream’s token system works, if you prefer longer conversations without the need to purchase more tokens, then Spicychat AI may offer a more appealing system.

Keep in mind, the prices mentioned in this review are accurate up to the day of this review. However, prices may fluctuate, promotions may be offered, and other plans may be introduced. OurDream Unique Feature

What immediately stood out to me with OurDream wasn’t a chat interface, but the “Dreamer Program”. I get the feeling that OurDream is trying to say, “Don’t just use characters, create a profile here”, without directly saying it. The interface is designed like a dashboard with separate tabs for Dreamers, Characters, and Collections, with featured dreamers being shown immediately.

It gets even more social with a “Top Creators” section that shows the top creators in the last 30 days, including how many followers they have, and the amount of interaction they get. The novelty factor here is that OurDream is trying to create an ecosystem that isn’t just about a chat, but also an environment where you can be featured, ranked, followed etc. (Similar to a chatbot platform, and a featured artist list, all mixed in one)

Spicychat AI Unique Feature

The unique feature that stood out to me with Spicychat AI was the Lorebook system. In essence, it’s “managed memory” that you control. Instead of relying on the bot to remember something about your world, or character, Spicychat AI offers you a way to actually save it.

Going by the prompt given by the interface itself, it’s a way to keep character backstories, world lore, and repeated facts straight without consuming chat credits, something important for users that enjoy long-term roleplay. You can name your lorebook, describe it, generate or upload a cover for it, add tags, and choose your desired level of visibility. The overall feeling that I get from it is that Spicychat AI is saying “Want continuity and permanence? Here are the options to get it”.

OurDream Safety

In terms of security, OurDream seems to have a freer nature, this is an uncensored, freer-speech, NSFW platform but not irresponsible. They are careful with communication and data within their servers, and there is a certain section in the ToS that explains what you can and cannot do.

They clearly are aiming at a huge amount of freedom of speech and action, but that also means they have certain expectations of maturity. Go nuts, but not with your personal data or outrageousness.

Spicychat AI Safety

Spicychat is also designed for adults, and they’re very clear about their content policies being much more open, but the expectation is that the age and content policies are adhered to, they want you to enjoy yourself, but there are limits in the realm of what’s right.

OurDream Support

Lastly, I want to give OurDream’s support the same treatment. The documentation and support they provide seems to me to be like having a conversation with someone who understands all of your weird requests. It also covers customization, tokens, and media creation in a language that isn’t the equivalent of a lawyers’ text. It’s like having a friend who explains everything you need to know. And when something fails, there are also means to receive support, although, as with everything, it may take a while to receive a response.

We have to rely on other people’s experiences when it comes to the customer support quality on Spicychat. On the one hand, users seem to appreciate the speed and helpfulness of the support team, as well as the fact that they have prepared guides for their members. On the other hand, they also complain that you will not always get the same response from the team, which is understandable customer support is only human, after all.

Just like the service in your favorite restaurant may be excellent most of the time, but every now and again, you may need to wait for a while to get your coffee. It is also nice to read reviews that are written in a human language, not in corporate lingo.

Conclusion

All in all, OurDream and Spicychat AI both made me wonder why I devote so much of my life to chatting with robots and compelled me to keep chatting regardless. OurDream is an art studio and dream girlfriend generator, Spicychat AI a feisty fun-time chat room with a non-judgmental approach to just about everything.

Both are weird, wonderful, infuriating, and enjoyable for different reasons. Want fiction tropes and multi-media art? OurDream is the way to go. Want naughty fun and silly conversations? Spicychat AI is your gal. And, I reckon, there’s space for both in this weird little community.
