OurDream vs MyDreamCompanion – Features You Need to Know

In this review of OurDream vs MyDreamCompanion, I am not comparing which platform generates more beautiful images or which one has more engaging conversations. I want to dive deeper and share my experience about what each website is about.

Which features does each offer to a paid user?

Well if you’re reading this review, you’re probably just like me, equal parts intrigued and curious about AI companions.

OurDream

OurDream can be described as a digital dollhouse for adults, but with a roleplay flair. It’s a platform that allows you to create a character and interact with them, creating art, clips and chatting without many restrictions including not safe for work content.

Overall, the platform feels fun, colorful and adventurous with a high level of finish and sometimes offers the illusion of being a virtual world rather than just a bot. I was happy to test it out and see its customization options as well as its uncensored nature (when needed).

MyDreamCompanion

MyDreamCompanion was another story. Their focus seems to be more so on being able to create a companion that is truly “yours” based on voice, personality, and memory and remembering in between conversations.

I find the personalization goes a bit further in this one: personalities and tones, memory to remove some artificiality, and the aesthetic is a lot more personal. I find that I notice mostly that the girls can evolve with the user over time using memory and personalization. I also find the aesthetic and chat interface to be more personal than distant.

Voice Chat Diversity

As I was planning to review chat, images and video, I decided to first review one of the most underestimated aspects, that of diversity in voice chat options. You pay money to chat with an AI, and you expect to at least have a range of voice options, and perhaps even the ability to filter those voices for a particular tone, accent, pitch, and style of voice (be it British, Southern American, baritone or mid-western American cheerleader, etc.)

OurDream came as a pleasant surprise, as I noticed that there were a variety of voice options that I could tweak to, some of which were more energetic and expressive, some that were more smooth, and some that were so high-energy that they actually made me laugh out loud.

While there weren’t a plethora of options to filter by (it isn’t like picking a song list, for instance), there were enough options to tweak to, and that was a pleasant surprise, and something that I felt separated “just chatting” from “oh, she sounds different every day!”

MyDreamCompanion Voice Chat

As for MyDreamCompanion, I found that voice options were more consistent, and in the spirit of giving your companion a more defined character, it seemed that each voice was tailored to the character that you had defined. It was nice to find that if I wanted a sultry, seductive novelist, that the voice options that I had available to me stayed within the realm of sultry and seductive, and did not devolve into squeaky cartoon voices.

The filtering options were more limited, but I found them to be effective, and the general consistency of the voice options actually lent itself to a more conversational tone, which felt more like talking to someone that had an established personality.

Chat Test Results for AI Companions

Both programs make for a pretty convincing chat if you ever questioned if a chatbot can seem almost human. OurDream’s chatbot is quite prolific and usually manages to seem pretty human-like, which is always a nice surprise.

The chatbot doesn’t always seem completely human, but it usually stays on track and remembers your previous interactions. MyDreamCompanion takes that one step further, remembering not just what you said but your emotions and inflections, which will inform conversations you have in the future. It’s nice to feel like your companion actually knows you.

OurDream Chat Test

Here, I’m really trying to put the “playful tease” mode through its paces. I throw a very direct and sexual question at the character (“What would you say to me if we were alone?”), and then examined the response. Does it flirt back? Does it get serious? Does it seem to have an established tone of voice?

In this image, the chatbot response seems to go the sultry romance movie trailer route, with a lot of atmospheric suggestions and romantic cajoling. MyDreamCompanion Chat Test

This is a “take one step closer” scene, testing to see how quickly the chat can escalate sexual activity and how the system manages and continues increased roleplay tempo. I’m looking for tempo, level of detail, contextual understanding, and whether the character seems to be taking charge of the roleplay or mostly echoing what I’m suggesting.

In this image, the response ramps up to sexually charged and dramatic roleplay pretty quickly, so that gives me an idea that MyDreamCompanion is configured for more intense roleplay when you challenge it. AI Image Generator Performance

In both programs you can generate your AI partner’s images. This is where it goes beyond the imaginary girlfriend and into a tangible “thing.”

OurDream Generated Image

OurDream’s engine generates images quickly, and can be NSFW if that’s what you want it to be (as mentioned before, the emphasis is on this).

MyDreamCompanion Generated Image

MyDreamCompanion emphasizes uniformity in your character, to generate them in different locations, and that is where the “continuity of relationship” stays for both. You know that it’s “your” character and not some random character being generated.

OurDream Photo Generator

Let’s go to the beach for a campfire portrait in OurDream . I want to see how the model handles lighting from a campfire and the moon in the same portrait. The girl is wearing a towel and the whole scene should be moody. I wanted to see how the model can handle the contrast between the fire and the night sky. I also wanted to check the depth of field. I’m checking how the model renders skin and the background.

MyDreamCompanion Photo Generator

I ran a bedroom portrait test for our MyDreamCompanion Image generator comparison. I asked the AI to create a bedroom portrait of the same character wearing a minimal black outfit and posed in a confident over-the-shoulder stance. I wanted to check the skin quality, and the fabrics. I wanted to test if the model can keep the proportions and not smooth out the features.

AI Video Generator Performance

When it comes to video, though… well, this is where the weirdness starts. OurDream already has an early video creation mode that allows it to create short videos based on a character’s description, and although it can take some time, it works. It’s like seeing your character alive.

MyDreamCompanion, apparently, is still perfecting its video creation, and as a first step, they want to ensure that static images are working properly before moving on to video. In terms of video, then, OurDream is ahead of the game for now.

In this testing phase, I tested the motion, realism and consistency of the AI model over a series of frames. I generated a short video of my AI girl in a box, and tested the fluidity of motion, facial expressions and camera motion.

Here I was mainly testing for consistency. Does the face look the same from frame to frame? Does the body proportion distort when moving? Is the lighting consistent? This test shows how well OurDream does at extending their still-image realism to moving images.

MyDreamCompanion Video Generator

I approached testing MyDreamCompanion’s Video Generator a little differently. I was testing for motion, but also for ambiance and character. In this video, I tested the fluid motion of the character within the environment, the expressiveness of the face and consistency of lighting and environment throughout the clip.

Here I was testing cinematography. Does the character look animated, or stitched together? Are the transitions smooth? Is the ambiance consistent? This test tells us how well the tool does at creating motion that tells a story.

OurDream Token Pricing

This OurDream token pricing screenshot illustrates OurDream’s system of selling their Dreamcoins. You use Dreamcoins for image creation, videos, voice calls, etc. You can buy 1,000 for $11.99. That’s roughly $11.99 per 1,000 coins. There’s a middle package that’s 5,000 Dreamcoins for $49.99, which is roughly $10 per 1,000, they say this package is 20% off the smallest package.

The biggest package is 20,000 coins for $159.99, which is roughly $8 per 1,000. They claim this package is 33% off the smallest package. Online sources say you use the coins for individual things like image creation, video creation, voice calls, etc, where each of those things costs a fixed amount of coins.

This is also where the prices match what I’ve seen in social media discussions – the bigger bundles you buy, the more value for money in terms of Dreamcoin, and you get sales (see 20% and 33% off text in the picture)

I’ve also seen people mention it costs 10 coins per image, and 100-300 coins per video, so if you intend to produce many images, you may need a bigger bundle.

OurDream Subscription Pricing

I went into this investigation a bit surprised at the heavy sales patter on the OurDream subscribe page not only is there a Valentine’s 75% Sale headline, they appear to run sales frequently as this very screenshot is showing a discount: Premium Monthly for $19.99 a month, “Originally $39.99 a month with a sale discount applied” that’s already 50% off, so right there, we have a sale going on.

This premium subscription is what opens up everything OurDream offers: unlimited chat, image and video generation, voice messages and calls, and 1,000 Dreamcoins per month as part of the package. As I found in the official help center, you can’t generate images or videos without a subscription, That feature will be locked without it.

With this, you get 1,000 Dreamcoins a month (which is the currency that the site uses to make media) and you can purchase more whenever you want.

You also have other benefits, such as making voice calls or post your characters. I have heard others mention a yearly subscription where you pay once a year and it usually works out cheaper, but in this screenshot, we’re looking at the monthly subscription which is currently on sale.

MyDreamCompanion Token Pricing

The DreamCoins pricing for MyDreamCompanion the internal credits you spends on media like companion images or generated video clips also shows a heavy sales theme.

The smallest bundle of 100 Dream Coins sits at $9.99, and then you see larger bundles with slashed prices: 350 Dream Coins marked down from $34.99 to $27.99 (a 20% sale), 550 Dream Coins down to $34.99 from $49.99 (30% off), 1,150 Dream Coins offered at $69.99 instead of $99.99 (30% off), 2,400 Dream Coins at $119.99 from $199.99 (40% off), and 3,750 Dream Coins at $149.99 from $299.99 (a full 50% off in the snapshot).

Because dream coins are what the platform uses to pay for actions like generating images or videos of your companion with some reports saying images use a handful of coins and videos use more buying larger packs during these sales can dramatically lower your cost per coin and make visual and video generation much cheaper over time.

What’s clear from the pricing picture is that MyDreamCompanion leans into frequent bundled sales, and splurging on a big dream coin pack during a discount can save you a ton if you plan to use image or video generation heavily.

MyDreamCompanion Subscription Pricing

Diving into the MyDreamCompanion annual subscription screen felt like stepping into a sale-season event — right at the top there’s a toggle showing Yearly –70%, and the prices you see are the marked-down versions.

On the left, the Premium plan is shown at $5.84/month, originally $20/month before the discount, and on the right the Ultimate tier is listed at $24.99/month, down from $85/month before the promotion.

Both are billed yearly, with the Premium totaling about $69.99 per year and Ultimate about $299.88 per year if you go through with the deal in the screenshot. According to community breakdowns, these tiers unlock different levels of messaging and media features.

Premium gives you a solid chunk of text messages, in-chat image generation, and even NSFW video generation capacity, while Ultimate steps that up with unlimited chats, more free dream coins per month (which fuel things like pictures and video generations), faster voice messages, and priority response time in interactions with your AI companion.

There’s a free tier on the site too, but all the mid-to-high level visual and interactive features like images and video are behind these paid plans, and the sale pricing in the screenshot makes it clear they run big discounts regularly (70% off right here).

Comparing Costs – OurDream vs MyDreamCompanion

I will say, I was surprised how OurDream and MyDreamCompanion emphasized premium sales before you even get started. In that screenshot of OurDream above, you will notice they advertised a “limited discount off their normal price,” so the price I showed above is what you are going to pay for chat, as well as for images and videos, so you are paying for that and the coins you are going to use at the same time.

The same was true with MyDreamCompanion, which also offered a discount on the initial prices you see above, so in that screenshot, the yearly prices I showed you were 70% off their original prices, so the per-month price I showed you was reduced, and you would receive generous monthly Dreamcoin allowances. And remember, those coins you buy will lower the cost of your images and videos, because you are getting a cheaper per-coin price if you take advantage of sales and buy larger coin packages.

Also, keep in mind that the prices I showed above were what was in the screenshot, but they may change and have sales, so it is best to go to the official websites of OurDream and MyDreamCompanion for the latest information.

OurDream Unique Feature

The cool thing about OurDream, however, is the fact that it appears there is a community aspect to this tool. Within the screenshots, I can see that there is a featured creator/character section which has creator/character names along with an OurDream ranking, number of followers, number of likes, and number of comments.

There also seems to be a “Top 30” section which shows the top 30 most liked creators/characters within the past 30 days. That’s really the big differentiator here with OurDream and MyDreamCompanion.

It seems that OurDream has more of a community aspect to it which may or may not be a good thing. It’s kind of cool to see other people’s characters and to be able to see how well people are doing but at the same time it’s important for me to be able to have the full experience without having to worry about other people.

MyDreamCompanion Unique Feature

So, when I first clicked on MyDreamCompanion’s character creator, it appears that I’m able to give a name to my character as well as a description of who she is.

I can also upload an image for my character or create one and within that image I’m able to choose whether the image is SFW or NSFW and even provide context as to what she looks like by providing the AI with a list of words which it will use to generate images in the future that match the previous image. I’m also able to choose the gender of my character (ranging from Female to Non-Binary).

That really seems like all there is to this AI tool and so I’m left with the impression that it’s pretty simple but maybe that’s not a bad thing. It’s important to me to be able to customize the character in whatever way I see fit and so that’s why I liked seeing the character description and gender options.

OurDream Safety

I also was curious about “When is too much freedom, too much?” OurDream addresses that with the decision to opt for adult channels to drive, as well as being 18 and over to access them and they being encrypted.

It’s like saying, “Yeah, you can talk about whatever you want…but, you have to be over 18 and we’re going to keep it our little secret.” I was a little surprised how comfortable I was with that knowing some of the conversation topics.

MyDreamCompanion Safety

For MyDreamCompanion, the tone is a bit more positive: it’s an adult application and it is private by default, and they emphasize memory and personalization while keeping things inside secure interactions.

It seems less about not wanting to let you do something, and more about just making sure you’re okay and safe, especially when it comes to image generation and sexual roleplay. It makes the application feel safe, without feeling safe’d, which matters for when you just want to have fun.

OurDream Support

OurDream’s customer service is well-intentioned, according to my research. Not flawless (I did find some references to glitches and incomplete features on the internet), but the customer service team is generally on point, and their help pages are functional and, for the most part, people have had good experiences when they had issues with customization or media creation. It feels like there’s an honest effort from the people running it to maintain the thing.

MyDreamCompanion Support

The support from MyDreamCompanion is to be expected as pretty in line with their tool: friendly, empathetic and more oriented toward helping you navigate configurations and optimizations of your companion. Which, with all of the customization options they have, is definitely a requirement — and by and large it seems they can provide that, helping you obtain the companion you want rather than the one you made happen.

Conclusion

So, after all of that, which one? Truthfully, they both have their uses. OurDream seems like the wild child, like the cousin who is willing to do anything outlandish, anything at all, but also still has enough sense to do it in a private, non-explicit fashion, whereas

MyDreamCompanion is like the relationship… well, companion, that recalls all your in-jokes, recalls the subtleties of your interactions and is willing to put in the time to make it all seem as real as possible. You may prefer one over the other depending on whether you value a degree of unpredictability over a degree of emotional intimacy… or maybe you like both!

It should be noted that either of these could change in the future, so if you’re interested, I’d recommend you check the official website of OurDream and MyDreamCompanion before doing anything.
