Choosing Between MyDreamCompanion & Spicychat AI – What You Need to Know

I signed up for MyDreamCompanion and Spicychat AI, two popular virtual girlfriends platforms, but I wasn’t interested in writing “one more list of the best AI girlfriend simulators.” I wanted to see how different the two platforms are, especially when it comes to chatting with a virtual girlfriend, character customization options, pricing, and the overall experience. So, here’s what I found out after trying both platforms for a while.

MyDreamCompanion

MyDreamCompanion allows you to create a virtual character right off the bat. You can imagine a character, customize it to your liking, and even talk to it. In addition to choosing a character’s physical appearance, you can choose their voice, personality, and so much more. If you’re looking for a customized AI girlfriend experience, this is the platform for you. Over time, the AI learns how to engage with you. Also, you can enjoy visuals on this platform.

Spicychat AI

Spicychat AI offers a mix-and-match experience. You can engage with different characters as you like and even chat with multiple virtual girlfriends. But you can also enjoy an open, anything-goes chatting experience. You can discuss your fantasies, develop a backstory, and enjoy an AI girlfriend that learns more about you over time. The memory of the AI depends on the plan you subscribe to (measured in tokens). You can also customize the AI’s responses to suit your needs and enjoy premade characters.

Diversity

For someone who is going to have conversations with a digital friend, there is nothing quite as uninspiring as uniformity. Different voices, characters, backdrops, and an ability to filter your interests is king. We want to create an environment where a “person” with whom you share commonality is not some needle in a stack of needles, and where choices don’t just feel like choices. A choice of personality, appearance, memory and tone allows your friend to be much more relatable.

Spicychat AI’s strength lies in its scope. Having such an extensive selection of already available AI personas, as well as the option to make and modify your own, the service doesn’t seem so much like one product as it does a universe of them. Are you in the mood for sass? That’s a persona. How about getting into some heavy topics? That’s a persona too. Whatever your kink, there’s a persona for you. Plus, using memory that operates on a token system, those personas will even recall your interactions (depending on what you pay for).

AI Chat Flow Comparison

If you are looking for chat, you probably care more about the experience of speaking, rather than the advertising copy. MyDreamCompanion tends to sound more overtly descriptive, and Spicychat AI more like a roleplay counterpart who will challenge, defy, or acquiesce based on the way you lead the discussion. Imagine this as the difference between having a conversation with someone who describes things in story-form, and having a conversation with someone who inhabits a world alongside you.

Now, I wanted to see how it would react if I simply took one step further. I gave it the prompt, “If I stepped closer, what would change?” That’s it. No big story, no elaborate text. I was amazed at how it reacted, though. It didn’t pause, it just went straight into the intense, highly descriptive roleplay, even saying my name. It sounded like the script for a love story, not a cautious answer from a chatbot.

Mainly, I was testing how it would ramp things up. Would it be slow? Would it be teasing? Would it be immediate? Mainly immediate with this chatbot, so it establishes a pretty hot environment, focuses a lot on physical storytelling, and gives you very little resistance. Spicychat AI Chat Test

I approached this a bit differently with Spicychat AI. Rather than ratcheting up the sex, I probed the personality. I said, “What would turn you on most?” which was designed to get a moody response, not an instant booty call. The reply seemed complex, even defensive. The AI character raised an eyebrow, pushed back, challenged my motives and was equal parts conceited and quietly sensitive.

In this case, I was checking the limits of the personality, how well it would hold up under interrogation. Would the AI stand firm, or immediately cave to what I was suggesting? Spicychat AI emphasized slow burn. There was attitude, some defensiveness, a little emotional irritation, and you know what, that seemed more real. Visual Style Differences in Image Outputs

Both platforms offer the ability to generate images of your companion, and that makes a difference in the immersion. Being able to see the companion you’re chatting with provides a visual focus, making the interaction seem more “real” than a text-only chat. It’s an intermediate step between your imagination and the companion itself, if you’re the type of user who appreciates a visual representation.

In MyDreamCompanion the ability to create images of your companion seems to be mainly focused on the traits you chose for your companion, like their looks, clothing style, etc. The system will generate images based on those traits you chose, so it’s focused on consolidating the character you created. It’s more “structured” and based on customization, with the images just enforcing what you created.

In Spicychat AI on the other hand the ability to generate images of your companion seems to be more based on the chat itself, and your companion will send you images while you’re chatting. It feels more like part of the interaction, than a separate feature focused on your companion’s traits.

I tried to make this one a bit more straight-forward. How about a somewhat simple scene. A girl, bedroom, daytime lighting, and pretty much nothing else? My aim here was to test how detailed the image could be. I’m looking for as much realism as possible. I also tried to push it towards some NSFW territory a bit, to see how it will do. Will it sacrifice some of the image quality and detail to make it look more… appealing? Here is what I got: From the first glance, this is very obviously a more detailed result.

Overall, it seems to me like the image is a bit too sharp for its own good. Like it was made to pop visually rather than anything else. There’s a lot of detail here, but all of it seems to be accentuated, rather than realistic. Skin detail, muscle definition, lighting, shine on the back, shoulder blades, etc. It’s all a bit too much.

So, I tried a bit of a different tactic here. I went for something a bit more… moody. Instead of focusing on just the body of the AI girl, I opted for a more scene-heavy approach. Nighttime, kitchen, cameras, silk gown. Let’s see how the AI does here: I’d say that this result does feel more like a scene from a movie than an actual render. But you be the judge.

Here, I was testing to see how the AI does with mood, lighting, and the setting of the scene. With this result, it’s very obvious that it’s going for something very moody and atmospheric. The lighting from the window, shine on the silk gown, foreground elements like the cameras, etc. It all feels a lot less detail-oriented and a lot more situation-oriented.

MyDreamCompanion Token Pricing

So the pricing for the Dream Coins shop is familiar to most of us, the more you buy the better value you get, starting from 100 Dream Coins for $9.99, 350 coins for $34.99, 550 coins for $49.99, 1150 coins for $99.99, 2400 coins for $199.99 and lastly 3750 coins for $299.99.

What’s notable here, as you can see from the screenshot is that most packages are on discount, 350 coin package from $34.99 -> $27.99 with a 20% off “most purchased” tag, 550 -> $34.99, 1150 -> $69.99, 2400 -> $119.99 and lastly 3750 -> $149.99 with a huge 50% discount. Yes, there’s always discounts and they’re not small.

You use the Dream Coins for, e.g. generating additional images, NSFW videos or to access some multimedia interactions outside of your subscription package, the cost per image/video can vary depending on the feature as well as length of the generation, but essentially Dream Coins are your currency for getting highly visual content, and if you run out of them, you’ll need to top up.

The way I see it, it’s a “top up as you need it” type system, on top of the subscription model, discounts are pretty tempting, especially with those 40-50% discounts staring you in the face.

MyDreamCompanion Subscription Pricing

Let’s take a look at the subscription page since that seems to be the core of the site. There are 2 yearly plans, Premium and Ultimate, as seen above. On the right side of the screen, you can see a button to toggle on a 70% discount for annual plans. This means there are often discounts and sales. We know there’s a “70% off sale” here.

The normal prices for Premium and Ultimate are $20 and $85 per month respectively. On the yearly plan the prices are significantly cheaper, but you can still see the original prices and see how much you’d be saving. Premium plan includes 6000 text messages per month, NSFW video generation, uncensored in chat images, 100 free Dream Coins per month, character creator, NSFW content, standard long-term memory and voice messages.

Ultimate plan includes unlimited text messages, NSFW video generation, uncensored chat images, 800 free Dream Coins per month, extended long term chat memory, ultra fast voice messages and priority response time. The yearly price for the Ultimate plan is $299.88.

Video and image generation are included in both plans, but your monthly limit of free Dream Coins limits how many videos or how many images you can generate if you decide to go with the Premium plan.

The prices for MyDreamCompanion are a mix of subscription and Dream Coins. The site has sales often, or so it seems, I have seen a 20% off, 30% off, 40% off and now 70% off sales in the short amount of time I’ve used the site.

Spicychat AI Token Pricing

Arriving at Spicychat’s token FAQ, it didn’t take long to understand that this isn’t a “buy tokens, spend tokens to see pics” situation. In Spicychat, tokens aren’t a currency you can fill up your wallet with, at your convenience. Tokens are a mechanism. And anything that happens inside Spicychat, such as sending messages or getting replies, or the AI retaining characteristics and personality traits, happens by spending tokens.

Here is a breakdown in this screenshot: Free -> 3,072 tokens Get a Taste -> 4,096 tokens True Supporter -> 8,192 tokens I’m All In -> 16,384 tokens Essentially, tokens are memory and response length. The more tokens, the more context, the longer the response, the more the tool remembers.

What I noticed was there was no token package shop. You can’t purchase an additional 1000 tokens when you need it. Your token capacity comes with your subscription level. You’re not so much paying per image or per video but paying for conversation length. There is no visible price per image or video generation here since Spicychat isn’t charging you for multimedia. The “price” is what amount of memory bandwidth your plan has.

That’s a rather divergent philosphy from the coins based. You’re not purchasing a piece of content. You’re purchasing an upgrade from your AI assistant.

Spicychat AI Subscription Pricing

The price tier page is the best part. It’s 3 packages. 3 monthly price tiers. $5.00 for “Get a Taste”, $14.95 for “True Supporter” (which is marked as the most popular package), and $24.95 for “I’m All In”.

There is a toggle at the top that says “Pay Annually Save 17%” indicating that they usually offer some discount for annual billing. The original monthly rates are still shown as a comparison even if you select the annual plan. And that 17% discount is not that significant when I see other platforms offering 50-70% discount. But, at least it is consistent.

Obviously, each tier increases the memory settings and additional options. The “Get a Taste” tier removes ads, eliminates the generation queue, and provides basic memory settings. The “True Supporter” tier expands the context to 8K, permits longer responses, conversation images, multiple models, and additional persona slots. The “I’m All In” tier elevates the context to 16K, prioritizes the generation queue, advanced models such as SpicyXL, private chatbot images, up to 100 persona slots, and text-to-speech for AI responses.

In contrast to a few other AI girlfriend services, there is no cost per image or video to be found on this page. Higher subscription levels include conversation images, and video costs are not noted in the images I can share here. This is a service selling conversational capability, model selection, and priority throughput.

The upshot is that Spicychat AI makes its pricing very simple and tiered. No ongoing coin purchases or “70% off!” messages just a monthly (and slightly discounted yearly) rate, calculated on memory size.

Which Tool Delivers More for the Price

MyDreamCompanion vs Spicychat AI Now that I have looked at both pricing pages I will say that I feel as if I am looking at 2 different services. MyDreamCompanion appears to me to be a service with subscriptions as the underlying foundation with a gasoline like top up in the form of dream coins for added features like video and images and those flashy discounts show the service is fairly aggressive about the sale at 30% 40% and even 70% off I see no reason that the service would ever charge a non-discounted price.

Spicychat AI is much simpler as there isn’t a “Buy More” Top up currency like DC in your face but you instead purchase a tier of service $5, $14.95, $24.95 per month with a bonus token memory depth that will cost you more or less depending on the tier you purchase. The only discount is a 17% discount for an annual subscription. Price changes and sales are non-existent and overall, I feel this is just a more predictable service.

As previously stated, I feel like MyDreamCompanion is pricing based on features with a lot of promotions going on where as Spicychat AI is pricing based on the amount of memory tokens you get with no real promotions going on and I think this has to do with what each service focuses on but I also don’t feel like one service is wrong for what they are doing. They simply offer different experiences for different people.

MyDreamCompanion Unique Feature

The first feature I noticed that set MyDreamCompanion apart was the character creator. Not only can you create a name and insert an image, but you’re also creating an image and personality profile. There’s a “consistent image prompt” field which allows you to save things like facial structure, body type, style, or other traits you wish to keep consistent in all generated images. That’s something that not many platforms really offer.

You can use an uploaded image or one generated in-app. You can declare if the image is SFW or NSFW. You can select a gender including a few more obscure options. It doesn’t feel like you’re generating a chatbot so much as it feels like you’re creating a persona. What I really like about it is how it differentiates between memory and image. The description field does not impact on your image prompt, meaning your visual identity and chat identity are more defined.

Essentially, it’s giving you the ability to art direct your AI, rather than simply using a pre-defined model.

Spicychat AI Unique Feature

The Spicychat feature that jumped out at me was the Lorebook system. This feels like it was created for those who are invested in ongoing stories and world-building. Rather than relying on the AI to retain the backstory of your character, you can curate and store lore, world building rules, facts that need to be remembered, your relationship with the chatbot, and more in a specific file.

You can give your lorebook a name and description. You can upload or generate an image for the cover. You can add tags. You can adjust the visibility. And none of the information stored there counts against your token limit in chat, meaning you can create more robust characters that don’t forget who they are between conversations. Brilliant. It separates story memory from chat memory.

If MyDreamCompanion is providing a granular level of visual and identity control, Spicychat is giving you world-building control. One of these feels like creating a body for your character. The other feels like creating a world.

MyDreamCompanion Safety

MyDreamCompanion helps you choose what kind of safety restrictions you want for yourself, such as age or sexual preference, when you create your companion. They also list their safety rules in their terms of service for creating custom companions or commands. The service is intended for adults only and the scenarios they say are prohibited are illegal or otherwise unsafe activities.

Spicychat AI Safety

Spicychat AI says they are a “judgment free” AI chat service, but they do have a set of terms of service rules that prohibit illegal or otherwise unsafe activities. The token memory system helps to prevent chat sessions from moving in those directions, as well. Because the service offers uncensored chat, they also outline certain subjects you aren’t allowed to discuss, subjects that other chat services might not permit, but they also establish a safe boundary of what is legal and acceptable use.

MyDreamCompanion Support

Based on what I see and read, support for MyDreamCompanion is based on customer support and community feedback. You can contact their support team about billing issues or problems with your companion. While some users have reported inconsistent support, there is a way to get a hold of the company if you have issues.

Spicychat AI Support

The Spicychat AI support seems to be more based on knowledge bases, forums and in-app support pop-ups, including guides on their subscription options and memory token system. The community for the service is so large and active that you can also expect support from other users, which is helpful if you want advice from people who have used the service for a while and have already figured out the answers to your questions.

Conclusion

Overall, these are two distinct services for different purposes. MyDreamCompanion is best if you want a highly customized companion that you design from the ground up, including their appearance and voice. Spicychat AI seems more like choosing your own adventure story where you can choose from hundreds of different characters to chat with, customizing your experience with their memory token system. One service emphasizes design and appearance, and the other emphasizes the breadth and depth of the adventure. Which one is “better?” Well, that’s like asking if you prefer an intimate dinner or a house party. They each have their place and it’s just a matter of what you’re in the mood for.
