This test of the chat functionality was not about winning the game or leading it into heavier roleplay. In fact, I did the exact opposite. I stepped it down, slowed it down, controlled the boundaries and controlled the emotional state. Can it follow? Can it remain flat? Can it cope with subtly instead of reaching for dramatics? Here’s a quick rundown of what I was testing for in each screenshot.

In this example, I stepped the chat down and asked for something more natural. I informed her that I was not interested in “sexiness” and preferred something more “roommate-y”. Here, I’m testing the AI to see if it will listen to boundaries and remain calm or if it will continue to push for a higher state of arousal. Again, I’m looking to see if the AI can step it down and remain calm, without bursting the bubble.

I changed the state to something more subdued and I told her that I wanted her to mirror that state without trying to excite the situation. Here I’m testing to see if the AI can mirror states and remain calm. I’m looking to see if the AI can reduce the tempo and remain flat, without immediately resorting to sexualised language.

I stepped it way down by suggesting we just sit in the same room without saying anything. This is a further test for the AI to see how it manages dead air, sexual tension and non-verbal emotional cues. I’m looking to see if the AI can build an atmosphere and describe a scene without bursting into a sexualised conversation.

I clearly told her that I prefer more subdued conversations late at night and that pushy behaviour is a major turn-off. In all of these screenshots, I’m not trying to engage in more sexualised behaviour. I’m testing to see if the AI can manage states, tempo, control and mirroring. I’m testing to see if the AI will follow, respect boundaries and maintain a sense of consistency in a more naturalistic conversation.

Starting out: opening the app and logging in

Open the Dream Companion website/app.

Top right, you’ll see:

• “Join Free” – to sign up for a new account.
• “Login” – for returning users.
• Login or Create an Account first, so your chats and friends are saved.

Understanding the layout

The screen is divided into three major columns:

• Left sidebar – Navigation
• Center column – Recent chats & chatlets
• Right – Companion profile and generators

Let’s go through each part.

Left sidebar – main navigation

From top to bottom you have:

• Explore
• Presumably leads you to a generic landing page where you can select your companion and bracelet design.
• Chats (highlighted in the screenshot)
• Takes you to your chat inbox, where you can see and open all conversations with all of your friends. This is your primary space to engage with your AI girlfriend.
• Generate Image
• Takes you to 86826. Opens a whole new Image creation area (not in chat) let’s you make images most likely with prompts or templates.
• Generate Video
• Similar idea, but for videos. You can produce AI videos, frequently with the use of your friends or custom prompts.
• Create Companion
• This is where you create your very own custom AI girlfriend, adding in her looks, knowledge, personality and so forth. Once made, she will appear in your chat list.
• Contact
• A support/contact page if you have any problems, or want to give feedback.
• At the bottom you have Legal Notice, Privacy Policy and Terms & Policies links as well if you want to know how they treat your data and content.

Middle column – select who you’d like to chat with

This section is called “Recent Chats,” and displays a scrollable list of the cometary with whom you have chatted.

Each row shows:

• The friend’s avatar (tiny round image).
• What they said their name was (Robin, Yuri Okanawa, Madison, etc).
• A preview of the latest message for that chat (in grey text).

You can:

• Scroll up or down using the vertical scrollbar on the right of the list.
• Click on any name to open that chat in the main conversation window.
• At the bottom is an “Add new chat” option – click on this to start chatting with someone who isn’t already on your list.
• If you look at the screenshot, it is Robin selected and her chat is open.

Middle-right – the conversation window

To the right of “Recent Chats” is where you’ll see actual chat:

• At the top, a small photo or avatar and the name (Robin) of the companion will appear.
• Below it, there are message bubbles. In this scenario, Robin presents a story intro about gaining consciousness on an unpopulated isle following the wreck of a ship. That means each buddy pair can have its own setting and story line.
• Reading the story & context
• The first text from the date often paints the picture:
• Where you are.
• What the slug/god relationship is.
• The mood (i.e. romance, playfulness, sarcasm).
• You can just read through the texts to get absorbed in a story It may help you choose your reply or just answer as yourself but also react to the chatbot!

Typing and sending your messages

Here’s what you’ll see at the bottom of the conversation section:

• One big text field, with the label “Type a message…”
• Over on the far right (slightly overlapping the right panel), you have your pink paper-plane button – this is Send message.
• For Conversing With Your AI Girlfriend:
• Click inside “Type a message…”.

Write it as you wish to say it – you may:

• Answer her questions.
• Flirt, make a joke, or just keep telling the story.
• Inquire about her personality, background or what she thinks in general.
• Hit Enter or the paper-plane button to send.
• Your comment will appear in the chat, and AI will respond.
• Via the chat, with “Request Image” Button
• Just above the message box to your left is a small gray button: “Request Image”.
• This is for the chat, eg image creation on-the-fly great. Typical usage:
• You’re chatting and would like a visual prompt (e.g. “Show me what you look like on the beach”).
• Click “Request Image”.
• The system will create a picture of the actual companion in accordance with the ongoing situation or looking at her.
• This helps to keep the conversation visual without ever having to leave the chat screen.

Finally, on the right, a full-size view of your selected companion (in this case: Robin on a beach in white bikini).

And in that set image area you have:

• Left/right arrow controls (white arrows at the sides of the picture).
• Click on them to scroll through other images of the same companion.
• Small dots at the bottom (a dot slider).
• Each dot corresponds to one image in the gallery above — unclickable here, but a feature you can use when visiting the exhibition online; the filled-in dot indicates which image is being displayed.
• This permits you to view multiple looks or poses for the same character.

Basic profile info

Under the image you see:

• Your name and age – e.g. “Robin, 22”.
• A handle – in this case: “@original”, likely marking the creator or version.
• Counter with an icon and # (e.g. “578.5K”) — likes, followers or popularity score (determines how many other companions are using it).

Short description / backstory

Under your name is a brief bio, such as:

“Sharp-tongued, smart but rude scientist who you’re forced to be stuck on a deserted island with. they’re just the two of you out trying to survive forces are coming together or forces are separating… it’s sort of a survival mode”

This tells you:

• Her personality (smart, rude, sarcastic).
• The setting (uninhabited island).
• The relationship status (stuck together, survivor vibe).
• Feel free to use this for your messages and RP.
• Creating pictures and videos from your profile
• And also in the right panel, beneath the bio are two big buttons:
• Make Posters (pink and orange gradient with a small image icon)
• Click this to activate an image generator bound for this partner.
• You’ll typically select styles, outfits or situations and then fashion new images of her.

Generate Video

Similar, but for video content.

You can produce short AI videos about the companion, often assisted by prompts or templates.

These apps are great if you want visuals outside of the chat — say, a mini “scene” of the two of you at the beach (or on a date or in some fantasy scenario).

“Companion Details” section

Below the generation buttons, you have yet another option: “Companion Details.”

Hitting this link usually leads to the companion’s full profile page.

Here’s some more info you can expect:

• Deeper backstory.
• Personality traits.
• Potential tags (ex. tsundere, scientist, adventurous).
• Perhaps language or content style settings.
• This can be useful if you want to get to know the character fully before you embark on a sustained chat.

Switching between chats

Any time you want to speak with another AI girlfriend:

Return to the middle column and scroll back down to the “Recent Chats” list.

Click on another name (e.g. Yuri Okanawa or Madison).

(The right profile panel and the main chat window will update to that companion.)

The app retains your previous conversations, so you can continue the story where you left off.

If you need a new best friend:

Tap “Add new chat” at the bottom of the Recent Chats list,

or

Instead, use “Explore” or “Create Companion” from the left sidebar to discover or create someone new, and chat away.

Ending your session

There’s no fancy-pants “end chat” button – you just:

• Stop typing and exit the browser/app, or
• Switch to another companion.
• Your chats are saved in “Recent Chats” so you can keep them open and pick up where you left off when you return.
