When you first use AI girlfriend apps, you feel like you have entered some bizarre hybrid of a dating website and an image editing application. At one moment you are having a conversation with someone who knows your favorite pizza topping, the next you are making a picture of yourself and her on a beach holiday. I recently tried out two of the most popular ones, GirlfriendGPT and OurDream , to get a deeper understanding of what you can actually do beyond the promotional images. This is not a comparison, or a “which one is better” style review, just a look at what each has to offer in terms of tone, functionality, and general character.
GirlfriendGPT
GirlfriendGPT seems to be more of a roleplaying and character-based application. When I first logged in, the first thing that I noticed was the sheer amount of different characters and customization options available. You can create your own girlfriend, define her personality, and engage in conversations ranging from vanilla chatting to sexual intercourse. It is all about choice and customization, users are encouraged to create whatever kind of partner they want, and to engage with them through text, voice and images.
OurDream
OurDream is a bit different. The interface is more of a glossy tool for constructing a full virtual relationship. Rather than just conversing with a character, you can customize her looks, personality and the way she talks, and engage with her using text, images, voice chat and video. The app specializes in offering multimedia experience. Your girlfriend can talk to you, send you images, and respond in different ways based on the way the conversation progresses.

Diversity
When you think of diversity in AI chatbots, you might immediately think of marketing speak. But the more you use the platforms, the more you realize why it’s essential. Who wants to keep talking to the same character model over and over? The personality, appearance, backstory, and even nuances in how they chat all contribute to making the experience less like a machine and more like a human. Sites with tags, filters, and multiple character designs feel more vibrant.
GirlfriendGPT Diversity
GirlfriendGPT goes all-in on character diversity. Using the site is almost like browsing a never-ending character roster. There are thousands of characters, themes, and genres to choose from, ranging from girlfriends to fantasy archetypes, and from anime-inspired models to completely custom-made designs. The filter system helps narrow things down if you have a specific idea of what you want in mind.
During my testing, I found that GirlfriendGPT relies heavily on a tag and category system. Most characters come with pre-defined personalities, relationship settings, and roleplay ideas already set up. You don’t have to build everything from scratch if you don’t want to. However, if you enjoy building characters, you can customize almost every detail down to how they look, what they’re interested in, and how they talk.
Overall, the site feels somewhat messy in a positive way. You can find a sweet girlfriend one minute and a dramatic fantasy the next. The variety is all part of the appeal.

OurDream Diversity
OurDream takes a different approach to diversity. Instead of providing thousands of characters, it places a greater emphasis on building your AI partner from scratch. You can customize your companion’s face, body, hair, clothes, and art style, as well as their personality and how they behave.
In my experience, this results in a more ‘designer’ experience. Rather than scrolling through thousands of existing characters, you’re encouraged to build your own. Do you want a cool, sassy partner? You can do that. Would you prefer a gentle, caring partner who sends you voice notes? You can do that too.
It also features multiple art styles, such as realistic or anime, which offers yet another layer of diversity. Combine this with image and video generation, and your AI partner starts to feel like a proper digital character.

Which AI Chat Feels More Natural
Chatting with an AI partner seems straightforward enough, but it’s really where these sites live or die. A good chat should feel somewhat natural, responsive, and at least a little realistic.
On GirlfriendGPT, the chat tends to focus heavily on roleplay. The AI responds to different scenarios, and it remembers things you said in your previous messages, which makes the experience feel more cohesive when you chat for an extended period. Some characters are flirty, some are caring, and some are serious, depending on the type of conversation you have.
OurDream’s chat experience feels a little more rigid but also somehow more immersive. Each message is often linked with other features like voice notes, images, or videos generated during a chat. This integration makes the experience feel less like chatting with a bot and more like interacting with a multimedia character.
GirlfriendGPT Chat Test
I tested GirlfriendGPT like most users probably do, which is by just starting a chat and seeing how natural the experience feels. In this screenshot I’m having a chat with a girl named Emma and I’m asking a somewhat cheeky question about how to win someone over with just voice and attitude. Instead of a brief, automated sounding response, the AI comes back with a pretty long and quite roleplay-like response. It describes Emma pausing, reacting and speaking in a soft voice, almost as if the chatbot was a scene from a story.
The thing that struck me about this was the story-like nature of the response. The AI is describing Emma doing things like playing with her hair or thinking about the conversation before responding. It makes the chat feel more story-like and less like you’re talking to a robot.
I found this during my testing, and it made the experience feel less automated and more like a roleplaying experience. If you want to see more of how the chat goes and how well the AI holds up in the conversation, you can see my full GirlfriendGPT chat test which I go into more detail.
OurDream Chat Test
I decided to test OurDream a bit more flirtatiously, just to see how the chatbot would respond in a romantic scenario. In this screenshot I’m asking the girl what she would say if we were alone and she was going to whisper something in my ear. As you can see, the chatbot immediately responds with a pretty smooth and somewhat movie-like response. It describes her smiling and locking eyes with me before saying something that sounds like it could be straight out of a romantic movie.
I also noticed that there is a little audio clip icon to the right of her response, which would suggest that the platform supports voice messages as well as text. Being able to hear the girl deliver the lines in addition to reading them definitely adds an extra layer to the experience.
Not only does it read like a line from a movie, but it actually sounds like she’s reading it. If you want to see more of how the conversation plays out and how well the chatbot holds up over the course of the conversation, I’d encourage you to take a look at my full OurDream chat test.

AI Image Output Breakdown
Image generation is where AI partner sites start to feel less like a chatbot and more like a creative generator. Asking your partner to ‘send you a selfie’ or generate an image based on what you’re chatting about adds a whole new layer to the experience.
GirlfriendGPT Generated Image
GirlfriendGPT focuses mostly on contextual selfies. You can ask your character to send you images based on what you’re chatting about, and the site will generate contextual images. It does a surprisingly good job of keeping the character model consistent, so your character looks like the same person in different photos.
OurDream Generated Image
OurDream takes things a step further. It features both realistic and stylized images, and the images it generates feel somehow more cinematographic. You can specify backgrounds, poses, or moods, and the generated images feel closer to photography than portraits.
GirlfriendGPT Photo Generator
When I tested the GirlfriendGPT image generator I wanted to test it with a really basic prompt to see what it’s capable of and it does a surprisingly good job at generating a realistic image of the AI girl in a bedroom wearing pink lingerie. The image of the GirlfriendGPT AI girl is a bit more of a selfie style of image as if she’s taken a photo in a bedroom and sent it to you.
Another Image by GirlfriendGPT
The room is not perfect, and it has imperfections which make the image appear more real rather than a 3D render. This is the type of thing I was looking to test with this platform and see if it’s capable of producing images which match the AI companion character, if you want to see more images and the prompts, I used to take a look at my GirlfriendGPT Image Generator Test.
OurDream Photo Generator
When testing the OurDream image generator I wanted to do a bit of a different test to see how it goes so I decided to use the prompt of AI girl sitting by a fire on a beach at night. The OurDream AI girl is sitting on a beach at night with a towel around her and there is a small fire going which is casting a glow on her.
Another Image by OurDream
The image is more of a cinematic type of image with a moon shining down and waves in the background. The main difference between this and the GirlfriendGPT image generator is that it’s more focused on creating scenes with a more dramatic flair rather than a portrait of the AI girl. One of the things that impressed me with this image is the use of the environment to create a scene which looks like a movie with the waves crashing and the moon shining down.
This image generator seems more focused on creating images that depict the scene and setting rather than just a portrait of the AI girl. If you want to see more images and the consistency of the image generator take a look at my OurDream Image Generator Test.

GirlfriendGPT Token Pricing
The first screen here shows the token purchasing options for GirlfriendGPT. So, these are the coins that you purchase in order to generate images or to do other premium actions within the platform. The lowest package here is 300 coins for €9. That’s a pretty standard sort of entry level purchase if you just want to try something out and you don’t want to spend a lot of money on it.
The next package here is 840 coins for €23. Now the interface here suggests that this package can generate over 140 images, so we can tell that the coins are primarily used for image generation and other premium actions within the chat. Then the largest package here is 2000 coins for €45, and this has a little bonus indicator here. So, we see things like a +12% bonus or a +33% bonus.
So, the platform is offering small promotions from time to time to give you a bit of a discount. At least when I was testing this out, the token system was pretty self explanatory. It’s the coins that are used to generate images and to do other premium actions within the chat. So, if you’re generating a lot of images or you’re playing around with the character’s appearance, it’s the coin token that’s being used in the background.
GirlfriendGPT Subscription Pricing
The second screen here shows the premium subscription options for GirlfriendGPT. So this is how GirlfriendGPT packages a number of different perks into a monthly subscription package. So, we see that with the premium subscription you get 400 free coins per month, you get 5,000 messages, premium AI models, in chat image generation, video generation, uncensored NSFW, and voice.
The video generation here is interesting because it suggests that you can generate videos of up to 5 seconds. So that’s something that you would presumably use tokens or your monthly allowance for as well. In terms of the pricing here, it looks like the standard monthly subscription is $12. However, as we can see here, the platform does run promotions from time to time.
So, for example, if we look at the 12 month package here, this is normally $144 per year. But at the time that I took this screenshot, there was a promotion running, and it was showing as $115 per year, which is about a 20% discount. Now, that works out to a monthly equivalent of about $9.58. So, there are promotions running from time to time that you may be able to take advantage of in order to get a cheaper subscription.
OurDream Token Pricing
Firstly, when I clicked on pricing, I was greeted with Dreamcoins. Dreamcoins are OurDream’s token system. They are used to create images, videos or other premium features inside the chat. You can see their packages above. For starters, you have 1000 Dreamcoins for 11.99 USD. I assume this package is for those who just wanna try out the AI or create a few images.

The next package is 5000 Dreamcoins for 49.99 USD and the third package is 20000 Dreamcoins for 159.99 USD. When I was testing, I noticed they were giving discounts on their packages. You can see there is a 20% discount on 5000 DC package and a 33% discount on 20000 DC package.
This implies they are offering discounts all the time. Also from the page, you can see 1000 DC is equal to 200 images or 10 videos. This means you will need 5 DC for each image and 100 DC for each video. This is a fairly common price for AI chat platforms. They usually use tokens to monetize their visual features.
OurDream Subscription Pricing
This is the second page where they talk about their premium package. As you can see, this is more of a monthly package deal instead of token packages. The original price for this package is 39.99 USD. But from the image, you can see they are running a discount where the price is now 19.99 USD.

There is a 50% discount. On top of that, there is a Valentine’s day promotion up to 75% off. This shows that they are running discounts most of the time. As for what is included in the package, you can see 1000 DC, unlimited messages, unlimited voice messages, image and video generation, voice calls and create your own AI model.
Based on the calculation we saw from the token page, 1000 DC is roughly equal to 200 images or 10 videos. You also get 20 mins of voice calls. I think this package is more for people who will talk to the AI more regularly. Because with the token included, you can already create 200 images or 10 videos without spending a single dollar.

Pricing Summary and Recommendations
So, I was reading over the pricing pages for both and I was thinking, well they are kinda different philosophically. One is more coin and micro-transaction based, and the other is more a monthly plan that tries to include as much as possible. That’s not really good or bad, it just depends on what you’re looking for in an AI girlfriend.
GirlfriendGPT has a bit of a hybrid system. You pay a monthly fee to access the core service, and then you have a monthly allowance of coins. Most visual content like images and the like costs coins. So, you pay your monthly fee to access the site, and to get a monthly allowance of coins, but you can always buy more coins if you need them. Some guys prefer this because they can use the site as little or as much as they want and only need to buy more coins if they’re making a lot of images or whatever.
OurDream has a more inclusive monthly plan. Your monthly fee includes unlimited chat, image and video creation, as well as a monthly allowance of DreamCoins. Basically, your monthly fee should cover your usage, and you shouldn’t need to buy more credit unless you really need them. For guys that are heavy users, and send a lot of images, make a lot of calls, and generate a lot of videos, this system might be preferable.
Also, before you pull out the credit card, it is just a reminder that prices are subject to change, and these AI girlfriend sites tend to change their prices pretty regularly. They run promotions, discounts, and sometimes just decide to completely change the price structure. So just keep that in mind, and make sure you check the prices on GirlfriendGPT or OurDream site before you sign up.
GirlfriendGPT Safety
Now, I know you’re probably thinking “how safe is this thing”. Well, GirlfriendGPT is 18+, so yeah, you need to be an adult to play the full, uncensored version. Essentially everything is between you and the bot, and the site makes it clear that you’re responsible for the experience you want to have. I didn’t really test the limits of what GirlfriendGPT censors or doesn’t, but yeah, there are limits. The goal is to allow whatever roleplay possible within reason.
OurDream Safety
Safety is a concern for OurDream as well. Essentially, they don’t allow underage content, you can’t create a character based on a real-life celebrity or anyone else that can be identified, etc. There is a moderation policy in effect here and violating terms can lead to account suspension, etc. It’s all about a balance between freedom and, well, not being a shithead. You can still create pretty much whatever character you want and engage in adult content, but there is a line drawn in the sand here.
GirlfriendGPT Support
The support options for GirlfriendGPT are pretty standard for a bot like this. Most of it is documentation, community forums, and ticketing. If you run into a bug or have an issue with billing, you’ll likely be reaching out to their support team through the site. Response time can be a little variable depending on volume, but they do a pretty good job documenting the essentials.
OurDream Support
The support options for OurDream seem to be a little more focused on knowledge-based articles and direct support through the site. Since this is a subscription and content generation platform, they do a pretty good job explaining how to use your coins, what the generation limits are, and how to access new features. In my experience, that seems to cut down on the need for support to begin with.
Conclusion
Having spent some time on both, I think both platforms are attempting to scratch a similar itch, just in different ways. GirlfriendGPT feels a lot like a Wild West playground where the variety of characters and scenarios keep things fresh. If you like playing around with different personalities and scenarios, it’s a pretty fun playground to mess around in.
OurDream feels like more of a premium digital girlfriend experience. With the focus on customization, visual media, and multimedia interaction, this feels more like you’re actually building a digital girlfriend as opposed to just browsing chatbots. Neither platform is perfect, but you know what? I kinda like that.
Digital girlfriends are still in their infancy, a little weird, and sometimes a little too real. If you prefer the variety of GirlfriendGPT or the creative building experience of OurDream, I guess the question is… do you wanna play with existing characters or build your own?
