It’s not the sort of thing I normally do. I was curious about the current state of conversational AI, and before I knew it, I was knee deep in AI girlfriend and boyfriend services. It turns out there’s a service for everything, from companionship and emotional support to custom digital girlfriends and boyfriends.
As I was digging through the various services I kept stumbling over the same two names, GirlfriendGPT and Crushon AI. I decided to sign up to both, give them a whirl and see what they’re all about. I figured I’d document my experience here to help you make sense of what each service actually offers beyond the sales copy.
In this post I’m going to try and compare GirlfriendGPT and Crushon AI without the hype, without pretending that either of these tools is a silver bullet that will fix everything. Just the facts, as I see them. Let’s get into it.
GirlfriendGPT
GirlfriendGPT is a service that lets you create a custom girlfriend, and roleplay with her. You can customize your girlfriend’s appearance, personality, create custom scenes and roleplay with her via text, images or voice. In short, GirlfriendGPT is about creating and roleplaying with a custom digital girlfriend.
Crushon AI
Crushon AI on the other hand gives you access to thousands of AI crushes that you can roleplay with. You can create your own AI crushes but also engage with other people’s creations. It’s a community focused platform that allows you to explore all sorts of roleplay scenarios with AI partners.

Diversity
One thing I learned while testing these platforms is that diversity is crucial. If all AI girls feel the same, the fantasy doesn’t hold up for long. Personality diversity, image options, tags, filters… all of that helps. Nobody wants to chat with the same girl in ten different hats.
GirlfriendGPT Diversity
GirlfriendGPT goes all in on customization. When you build a girl, you’re able to specify personality, looks, and even the style of the conversation. It felt almost like a character creator you see in video games rather than a simple chatbot selection screen.
The library of girls is substantial, but it feels somewhat curated. In a good way. Rather than presenting you with a endless list of girls, the platform seems to push you towards crafting your own.
Tagging/filtering is simple. You can filter girls by personality traits, themes, and content, and generally speaking, it’s pretty clear what’s going to be SFW vs NSFW. It feels more like you’re trying to craft your ideal AI girlfriend rather than browsing some kind of girl marketplace.

Crushon AI Diversity
Crushon AI is nuts. In a good way.
They have a massive community generated library for girls. Anime, fantasy, scenario, drama, you name it… Someone has probably built it already. The amount of content is staggering.
Because the library is so large, they had to rely on heavy tagging, categories and search filtering in order to help you find the kind of girl you’re looking for. Otherwise, you’d spend half an hour browsing through girls before you ever even started a conversation.
The thing that stuck out to me the most was that Crushon feels more like a community creator platform. If GirlfriendGPT is about crafting a monogamous relationship, Crushon is more about exploring a whole world.

Testing Natural Dialogue in the AI Chats
The chat is the meat and potatoes of these apps. Everything else, images, voice, even video, is just gravy if the chat isn’t great.
GirlfriendGPT seems to focus more on relationships like chat. The conversations feel more personal, and more consistent as you chat with the girls over time. Some girls even remember things you talked about in the past. The overall tone seems to skew more towards an emotional connection rather than fantastical scenario.
Crushon feels more like a choose your own adventure story. The girls respond with larger blocks of text, and in some cases, they even support multi-girl stories. It’s a different experience. Less so a “girlfriend” experience, more of a roleplaying scenario.
GirlfriendGPT Chat Test
I hopped on GirlfriendGPT and engaged in a conversation with a user named Emma. I decided to be somewhat flirtatious and asked her how she would seduce me through her voice alone. I was surprised to see the response. Emma didn’t respond with anything that was overly cringy or sexualized. Instead, she was calm, composed, and even mentioned the importance of honesty, being genuine, and asking about my passions in life.
There was roleplay involved, but it was light and used italic text to describe the action. Safe for work mode was enabled, and you could tell. Overall, the dialogue felt more like a character speaking to you rather than a chatbot trying too hard. Read my full GirlfriendGPT chat test
Crushon AI Chat Test
I then proceeded to test Crushon AI, which presented me with an entirely different experience. I spoke with a character titled “Your Victim’s Girlfriend”, which is very telling of the nature of the chatbot. I prompted her with something a bit promiscuous and the chatbot responded with sexual innuendos and descriptions of her physical appearance, along with a very confrontational tone and a storyline that quickly escalates.
The platform’s allowance for not-safe-for-work content was very evident, and the writing of the character certainly matched. At the bottom of the chat, there was a small disclaimer stating that the experience is entirely fictional, which I appreciated. While GirlfriendGPT was more “soft and slow”, Crushon AI was more “hard and fast”. Read my full Crushon AI chat test

Image Prompt Quality and Results
One of those features you don’t realize you care about until a girl sends you a generated selfie in the middle of a conversation.
GirlfriendGPT Generated Image
GirlfriendGPT has image generation built directly into conversation. You can ask for pictures, or scenario images, and the AI will generate them based on the girl, and the context of the conversation.
Crushon AI Generated Image
Crushon also supports image generation, although sometimes this seems to be dependent on the specific girl, or AI engine you’re using. Sometimes images are integrated into the roleplaying scenario, rather than being a distinct picture request.
GirlfriendGPT Photo Generator
I decided to test GirlfriendGPT’s image generator to see the type of images the platform produces for AI characters. I generated a blonde character wearing bright pink lingerie in a bedroom, and it immediately became apparent the generated image is photorealistic. The lighting, skin detail, and the room all lean heavily on photorealism, which allows the AI character to feel more like a digital girlfriend than a cartoon character.
Another Image by GirlfriendGPT
What I was looking for here was immersion. The level of photorealism offered by an AI girlfriend platform can drastically impact how immersive an experience feels when you message an AI character. In this case, GirlfriendGPT chooses photorealism, which makes it feel more real-life.
If you’d like to see the consistency of the image generator and what other images I generated, you should check out my GirlfriendGPT image generator test.
Crushon AI Photo Generator
I ran the same test with Crushon AI’s image generator to see how Crushon AI’s character images stack up. Here is the image Crushon AI generated: Here, the Crushon AI character is an anime-style girl sitting on a bed in light lingerie. Right away, the style is very different, it’s clearly illustrated and leans heavily into the anime aesthetic. The main difference between the two AI character images is that Crushon AI’s style leans heavily into anime aesthetics.
Another Image by Crushon AI
This shows the general direction Crushon AI has chosen for its character ecosystem. Instead of photorealistic images that approach reality, Crushon AI focuses on cartoon characters that resemble anime and visual novel characters. That design choice completely changes the feel of the AI character platform and makes Crushon AI feel more like stepping into an anime or visual novel.

GirlfriendGPT Token Pricing
Next, I will talk about the GirlfriendGPT token pricing. Token pricing is the second screen shot I took when reviewing GirlfriendGPT. As I said, it seems GirlfriendGPT operate a token system for their media features (images/video) and in the screenshot I took, it seems I am looking at 3 different token bundles. 300 coins for €9, 840 coins for €23 and a bigger bundle of 2000 coins for €45.
Each of the bigger bundles shows a bonus, the middle bundle shows a +12% bonus, and the largest bundle shows a +33% bonus coins, so they incentivize you to purchase more credits at once. These tokens are used to power media features in the chat. It seems generating an AI image cost about 6 coins per image, a short AI video clip costs about 20 coins, and even voice responses consume coins depending on the length.
It also seems GirlfriendGPT have limited time offers, because in my screenshot the bonuses are 12 and 33%, but I’m sure I’ve seen larger discounts on this platform, perhaps around 20-30% off on memberships or token bundles, for example over Christmas and New Year or during an annual subscription offer.
In short, the token system seems like it’s used for extended experiences outside of chat. The subscription grants access to the platform, but if you want to generate lots of AI selfies, AI scenes, or short clips during the chat, these token bundles are what you will purchase.
GirlfriendGPT Subscription Pricing
Now I will talk about GirlfriendGPT subscription pricing. The second screenshot shows the subscription aspect of GirlfriendGPT, this is the part that unlocks most of the platforms core features. In the middle of the screen, I see an Experience Premium’ section, which promises 400 free coins a month, 5,000 free messages, premium AI models, chat history, voice, and the ability to generate images and videos in chat.
The pricing part of the screen shows a 12-month subscription for $144 per year (which works out at $9.58 per month) and a 1 month subscription for $12 per month. Clearly the yearly subscription is discounted, in fact it says 20% off on the interface, which is pretty standard for these AI girlfriend platforms, they like to incentivize you to sign up for longer periods.
Based on my research, GirlfriendGPT seem to structure their premium plans around message and token limits. A typical premium plan would be 5,000 messages per month and 400 tokens, and higher plans would be 20,000 messages and 1,200 tokens, or perhaps unlimited messages on their highest plan. The monthly tokens would be used for the media features I talked about earlier, generating AI images, short AI videos or using voice features in chat.
So, while your subscription unlocks the platform and gives you a monthly token allowance, using a lot of media features could still mean purchasing more token bundles. Something I did notice on this page is how aggressively GirlfriendGPT promote discounts. On this page, the yearly subscription shows 20% off, but they have been known to promote even deeper discounts, perhaps around 30-40% off memberships during seasonal offers.
Crushon AI Token Pricing
First, I’ll talk about the token and credit pricing in Crushon AI. When you visit the token and credit purchasing page, it’s pretty apparent that Crushon offers a mix between a subscription and pay as you go model. The screenshot I provided shows a redeem credits page that offers 1000 credits for $6, 3000 credits for $10, 8000 credits for $25, and 18000 credits for $50.
The credits appear to act as extra chat fuel, if you run out of monthly messages, you can use your credits to purchase more AI responses. The documentation on the site indicates that coins are redeemable for bonus messages at a 1:1 ratio, and each response consumes a number of credits based on the model you’re using. I also noticed that Crushon attempts to offer discounts pretty aggressively.
Many of the packages in the screenshot have “save 45%”, “save 50%”, and “save 55%” labels on them. This indicates to me that the “base value” of credits is actually higher than it currently is, but they seem to run a lot of discounts to incentivize more purchases. Based on my research of the platform, the credit system only seems to apply to chat messages and accessing higher-end AI models.
I did see those certain features, such as image response or more advanced roleplay scenarios, can charge more credits for responses depending on the model you’re using. In practice, it appears that the token system is more of a top-up model that is layered on top of the core subscription model. The core subscription offers you a monthly allocation of credits, but if you’re going to chat a lot or use a more advanced model, you can purchase more credits from the bundles to continue chatting.
Crushon AI Subscription Pricing
Next, I’ll talk about the core Crushon AI subscription pricing. The second screenshot I provided is of the Crushon subscription page, and this is where you can really see how many tiers they have. Based on my review of the page, it appears that the platform offers a wide variety of plans that range from a free tier to some premium plans that are really designed for power users. Based on my review of the screenshot, I can see examples of Standard at $4.90 per month, Premium at $7.90 per month, Luxe at $25 per month, Elite at $66.70 per month, and Imperial at $150 per month.
Each of these plans offers more credits, more AI memory size, and other advanced features such as longer responses or more simultaneous chats. One thing that I did notice is that the screenshot is currently on the annual plan, so many of these prices are discounted. For example, the Luxe tier shows a 47% discount, so the yearly price listed on the screenshot is actually $479.88 per year originally before the discount. They seem to run a lot of these sales, as many of the plans have 26%, 37%, and 47% off banners depending on the tier.
The primary difference between the plans appears to be the number of credits per month you get, as well as the level of AI model that is available. The lowest tiers offer a few thousand messages per month, while the higher tiers such as the Luxe or Deluxe tier offer around 20,000 messages per month or unlimited chat depending on the plan.
Based on my review of the page, it’s pretty apparent that Crushon AI operates as a tiered pricing model. The subscription determines how many conversations you’re able to have and which AI models you can access, and if you need more messages, you can purchase more credits. It seems that the combination of the subscription plans and credit bundles is how they scale their business from casual users all the way up to very heavy roleplay users.
| Pricing Category | GirlfriendGPT | Crushon AI |
|---|---|---|
| Starting Price | About $15/month for Premium | Free plan available, paid plans from about $5.99/month |
| Pricing Model | Subscription + coin system | Tiered subscriptions + optional credits |
| Chat Limits | Message limits based on subscription tier | Message credits depending on plan |
| Image Generation | Uses coins (about 6 coins per image) | Available through chat or model credits |
| Video Generation | Uses coins (about 20 coins per video) | Limited or model-dependent |
| Discounts | Frequent annual discounts and coin promotions | Discounted annual plans and bonus credit bundles |
Affordable AI Tools – GirlfriendGPT vs Crushon AI
At the end of the day, after I had gone through the pricing pages and had tested both, I had a good sense that GirlfriendGPT and Crushon AI operated under two slightly different financial models. I think of GirlfriendGPT’s as a subscription model with a secondary coin-based currency system added on.
The Premium membership, for example, usually costs $14.99 a month and includes 5000 messages and 400 coins, but the higher memberships include more of both. The coins are required for any of the media features of the platform, and in my experience, it cost about 6 coins to generate an AI image, and about 20 coins to generate a short video.
In contrast, Crushon AI operates more along the lines of a tiered membership system. They have a basic, free plan, and then several paid plans ranging in cost from $5.99 a month to $49.99 a month, which grant you additional message credits, memory allowance, and access to better AI models. Credits are also available to purchase separately, which can be used to extend the length of conversations or to utilize more advanced AI models.
So that’s a basic overview of how the two sites compare. GirlfriendGPT is more subscription focused with a media coin system, while Crushon AI is more message focused with a credit-based system. Neither is really better than the other. It depends on whether or not you want to focus more on chatting or generating media.
The prices in this review are correct as of this date and are subject to change. AI providers tend to change prices, offer discounts or change their plans from time to time. Please check the official website of GirlfriendGPT and Crushon AI to get the most up-to-date pricing.
GirlfriendGPT Safety
GirlfriendGPT is an 18+ only platform that requires you to confirm that you are 18+ before you can access 18+ content. They allow uncensored chat and RP but still have rules against illegal content and other forms of content.
Crushon AI Safety
Crushon AI also requires you to be at least 18 years of age and has a term of service document that outlines what is and isn’t allowed on the platform. Though Crushon AI is known for having essentially no filters on their roleplay, they do have some rules against illegal activities and other content.
GirlfriendGPT Support
GirlfriendGPT has a help document and email support. Most of their support articles explain how to make a character, how to manage your subscription, how to use their image generation feature, and how to use their voice chat.
Crushon AI Support
Crushon AI also has a help document and FAQs, but also community-based support. You can get support on Crushon AI from official support, or community support where more experienced users can help you with questions or issues.
Conclusion
After using both platforms for a while, it’s easy to see that GirlfriendGPT and Crushon AI go about the whole AI girlfriend thing very differently. GirlfriendGPT is more about the idea of having a customized AI girlfriend that you can have more emotional conversations with, that has memory, etc. Crushon AI is more about having as many characters as possible and being able to engage in any RP scenario you want.
Neither way is really better, it’s all a matter of preference. If you want a more traditional-feeling AI girlfriend where the character learns and develops over time, GirlfriendGPT might be more your style. If you want to be able to play around with lots of different characters and RP scenarios, Crushon AI is more your style. Regardless, both platforms are an example of how far AI girlfriend technology has come!
