I went into this comparison of Crushon AI and Promptchan knowing that it would be a bit unusual. Both services are in the brand-new space of flirting and dating chatbots that can create images and videos of your partner. I didn’t expect them to be so different though, from chat through content creation to the weirdness of their payment systems.
Crushon AI
I can only describe Crushon AI as more of an experience. This service is more about roleplaying and about playing the part of a character, of chatting and of growing a relationship over time. They store information about the chats that you have had previously and it can use that information again at a later time. It has chat persistence. And, this is key, chat feels more natural. Less scripted and less restrictive. Less PG. Some might say too much so. That’s a topic for another time.
Promptchan
Conversely, Promptchan feels more like a tool. It has all the usual chat and chat persistence features, but it also offers you the ability to generate images and videos for yourself. And, not just any style. You can choose from styles like Anime and realistic, and beyond. Some of them are quite impressive to see. I’d say that it feels more like a creative tool than a chat platform. At least that’s how I find myself using it.
| Feature | Crushon AI | Promptchan |

| Create Custom AI | Yes | Yes |
| NSFW Chat | Yes | Yes |
| NSFW Image Generator | Yes | Yes |
| NSFW Video Generator | Possibly via tokens | Yes |
| Voice Chat | No built-in | Yes |
Diversity
Before we dive into the rest of the specifics, I also wanted to address how important it is to me to see a diversity of characters available in these types of tools. When you become attached to your partner, it is important to feel like they are real, and having a variety of character appearances, personalities, cultural backgrounds, or some other way to search or filter to match your desired aesthetic is important.
A platform with just a few characters who all seem similar can get stale quickly, whereas a platform where you can search and mod to immerse yourself in the character space where anyone could plausibly exist is so much more appealing.
Crushon AI Diversity
Crushon AI attempts to address diversity by providing you a character bank of personas with backstories, different personalities, and ways of interacting. They are fun and playful, some more outgoing and others more reserved, and I appreciate the variety that they offer.
You can select or create characters to suit your mood and what you want to experience, whether that is cuddly and sentimental, or hardcore and sexual. However, some users mentioned in their reviews that it sometimes feels like there are not enough options and you can get repetitive characters when searching for something specific.

Promptchan Diversity
Promptchan seems to focus on providing diversity by offering a wide range of artistic styles and visuals to their characters. They have anime style, realistic, CGI, 3D, or whatever else you can imagine. I feel like this adds another layer to the idea of diversity because you are not just selecting a character based on their personality and backstory, you are also selecting them based on their appearance and style.
I also appreciate that this platform allows you to customize your characters further, which adds another level of diversity to the site.

How These AI Tools Handle Conversation
I have spent a bit of time chatting with the characters from both platforms, and it seems to me that while both platforms attempt to provide a real-feeling chat experience, they present it in different ways.
The AI in Crushon seems to focus more on the emotional and narrative part of the experience, spinning a kind of story as you chat, whereas Promptchan seems to focus more on a fluid and responsive chat. In terms of asking questions, playfully teasing, or flirting, I feel like both platforms do a pretty good job, but it is clear you are experiencing two different personalities and styles.
Crushon AI Chat Test
So, here’s what I did. I decided not to go easy on it. No boring “how’s your day?” type question. I went straight into flirt mode to test how Crushon AI would respond to tension, dominance, and roleplay momentum. In the screenshot, I’m kind of trying to move the character a bit closer, to see if she’d respond with an escalation or just a generic tease.
The first thing that jumped out at me was how story-driven the response was. Crushon didn’t just give me one or two sentences. It wrote a whole paragraph. It described body language. It shifted tone. It implied power dynamics. It doubled down on the descriptive text.
The AI took charge of the environment and attempted to establish a roleplay scenario all on its own, without me needing to provide it with prompting questions. It even managed to inject some emotional complexity underneath the flirting, which was a little surprising, to be honest. It didn’t feel scripted. It felt like it was trying to control the environment.
Having said that, though, the response was a bit heavy-handed. If you’re looking for something subtle, you might find it a bit much. But if you’re looking for roleplay that basically goes all in, Crushon certainly isn’t subtle. If you’re interested in hearing more about how it performs over the course of an extended back-and-forth conversation, I encourage you to read my full Crushon AI chat test review.
Promptchan Chat Test
Now, with Promptchan, I tried something slightly different. Same basic idea, playful tension, but this time I was looking to see more about the conversational dynamic rather than the immersion factor. I asked her how close she’d stand to me, basically just to see if the AI was capable of flirting without immediately resorting to a full-blow narrative.
And you know what? I think the tone was actually lighter. More casual. Almost like texting back-and-forth with someone who’s flirting with you rather than trying to get into some sort of scripted fantasy scenario. There were emojis involved. There was a sort of “you dare?” kind of vibe to it. There was a bit of a cheeky, texting back-and-forth sort of feel to the whole thing. It didn’t feel like a novel. It felt like flirting in real-time.
The big difference here is just pacing. Promptchan didn’t just dump a wall of text on me. It actually left some space. It actually invited me to participate. It felt more interactive and less presentational. Some people will prefer that. Some people will prefer the more cinematic experience you seem to get with Crushon. But for my money, I was interested to see how two different AIs would flirt using two completely different “voices.”

Image Detail and Texture Comparison
This is a pretty clear differentiator between the two platforms. Crushon clearly has images as an enhancement to their chat experience.
Crushon AI Generated Image
Images are used to enhance the story and atmosphere that the AI creates in the chat. Promptchan, on the other hand, has images front and center as the main experience of the site.
Promptchan Generated Image
The character you create and chat with is primarily visual. If you become attached to your partner because of the way they look, then the images on Promptchan are the perfect way to experience your partner in the way you desire, whether that be an anime-style, 3D, or realistic model.
Crushon AI Photo Generator
Crushon AI Image Generator Example So I’m going to throw Crushon AI into its element here: fantasy character images with a very specific style and level of detail. I’m looking for the “Wow, I can really make this platform shine with NSFW content” image. That’s what I’m going for. So, what do I get? The image is polished and looks like an illustration smooth skin, deep shading, exaggerated features, and a very idealized body proportion set that makes it clear this is for the NSFW crowd.
Another Image by Crushon AI
It’s a controlled indoor scene, more of a “rendered fantasy” than a “candid shot.” Lighting is soft, textures are clean, and the image generally says, “I was designed for immersion.” The real test here though is tone. Does this image fit the character of the chatbot model? And for Crushon AI, the answer is yes. If you want to see how well it does across a few different prompts and whether the tone holds, check out my Crushon AI Image Generator review.
Promptchan Photo Generator
Promptchan Image Generator Example With Promptchan, I’m going to do basically the opposite. Instead of aiming for a stylized fantasy image, I’m going to go for something more photorealistic. I want to see something closer to a “high end photoshoot” than an “illustration.” The result? It’s pretty obvious.
Another Image by Promptchan
Natural outdoor background, photorealistic lighting, background depth, and a more photographic overall look. It looks like something shot with a DSLR and some thought given to composition. Skin texture, shadow detail, fold detail in the clothes…this is all leaning heavily toward the photoreal side and away from fantasy. Here, what I’m doing is comparing the artistic direction.
Crushon AI has a clear direction for “stylized and immersive.” Promptchan has a clear direction for “photoreal and atmospheric.” Which one is “better?” Well, that’s going to depend on the kind of fantasy you’re into. If you want to see more on how Promptchan handles lighting, clothes, etc. as well as a few different examples of output, I have a Promptchan AI Image Generator review as well.

Crushon AI Token Pricing
One of the first things I noticed when I accidentally landed on Crushon AI’s control panel is that they don’t simply charge a flat subscription fee but instead operate on a monthly package and message credit system. At the very top of the screenshot, you’ll see that they have a monthly “Pro” package for 39.99month and a yearly package for 24.99month (299.99year), noting that the yearly package used to be around 479.88 before the “sale,” so you’re actually seeing a price reduction due to a sale here.
Both packages grant you “unlimited access to Pro models,” which presumably means that the platform counts messages differently and allows you to interact with more “advanced” AI models.
Below that, you’ll see the “redeem message credits” section, where you can purchase chunks of message credits from small packs like 100 or 500 up to large bundles like 18,000 at prices like $6, $10, $25, $50, with “VIP” tags here and there implying a discount of some sort. Crushon operates on both a monthly package and consumable message credit system, with sales reducing the price every so often.
Crushon AI Subscription Pricing
Going over to the pricing page for Crushon AI’s subscription, you’ll see that they also organize their platform around monthly and yearly plans, each with their own message limits and feature unlocks. Going by the knowledge base and other websites, Crushon AI’s “free” plan limits you to around 100 message credits a month, along with restricted memory and character limits.
Their “standard” plan (around 5.99month) increases the number of messages you can send to around 2000 per month, while also increasing the memory and character limits. Going up through “premium” (several thousand), and “deluxe” (unlimited messages/month) unlocks Crushon’s group chat feature, further increases memory and character limits, allows you to use priority servers, and gives you more profile cards to customize your AI characters.
These plans commonly get quoted at entry points like $5.99/month and up to $39.99 to $49.99/month for top tiers and yes, you’ll see frequent sales that trim these prices or boost message counts. Features like image generation and better response generation are gated behind higher tier plans, although the pricing tool doesn’t seem to have a price listed in dollars; it’s more of a “feature gate” based on which plan you have. Keep in mind that prices may vary if you get a discount due to a sale.
Promptchan Token Pricing
I went to Promptchan’s token page, and basically all I saw is that the site runs on “Gems,” which is the currency you spend to generate prompts, unlock features, etc. The screenshot I looked at showed all the limited-time sale bundles that were live at the time, along with a Valentine’s Day graphic at the top.
Promptchan runs sales like this all the time, from a 50 Gem bundle that’s normally $4.99 but was on sale for $1.49, to a 10,000 Gem bundle that’s normally $299.99 but was on sale for $89.99. If you need them badly, you can almost always get them for cheap.
Most of the time you spend those Gems generating images, and according to everything I read about the site on other sites, the average image only costs about 1 Gem (some special images cost more, of course). However, Promptchan’s token system isn’t just about images.
Chatting or videoing can drain your monthly allowance (or your credit balance, if you have one), especially if you’re making images or media for a character, so stockpiling big bundles of Gems is a little like loading up on ammo before a long gaming session. The sale banners and the deep discounts tell me there’s a regular cadence to buying the best prices, as they show sale prices, not list prices, most of the time.
Promptchan Subscription Pricing
I also grabbed a screenshot of Promptchan’s subscription prices. There are three paid tiers on the site, in addition to the free tier. The “Plus” tier costs around $11.99/month, and comes with around 100 monthly Gems, along with some starter perks like priority access, image generation, and chat.
The “Premium” tier costs around $18.99, and comes with around 400 Gems, along with more image styles and special perks. The “Pro” tier costs around $26.99, and doubles the Gems again to around 800, while unlocking more perks like video generation and custom characters. All of those prices had little discount tags on them (e.g. “20% off”), which tells me that Promptchan also runs sales on the monthly subscriptions, sometimes reducing the price even further than what’s shown here.
According to the official site’s documentation, as well as the reviews I read, each subscription plan doesn’t just get you a certain number of credits, it unlocks entire categories of features (like AI video generation, or unlimited basic image generation), that aren’t available to you as a free subscriber.
Each plan feels like a different level of investment, and there’s something for everybody, whether you just want to dabble at generating characters or go whole hog with custom AI and videos. Promptchan’s pricing model seems like it’s designed to give you options: a free starter allowance, a mid-tier monthly subscription with a heavy dose of Gems, and a high-end plan for serious creators who want to get the absolute most out of every prompt.
| Feature | Crushon AI | Promptchan |

| Free Access | Yes | Yes |
| Chat Credits / Tokens | Message Credits | Gems |
| NSFW Chat | Yes | Yes |
| NSFW Image Generator | Via Credits | Via Gems |

Final Pricing Comparison Takeaways
Ultimately, after extensively reviewing both Crushon AI’s pricing page and Promptchan’s pricing page and experimenting with each site’s chat, image, and other costs, I did appreciate the fact that they handled pricing very differently. Crushon AI utilizes a combination of chat plan and message credit approach where you pay for credits (either through a chat plan or a subscription) that can be used for chat, images, and sometimes voice.
During my analysis, I observed that the yearly subscription plan for unlimited access was listed as originally being around $479.88 and was on sale for approximately $299.99, which is not uncommon for this platform. This being said, smaller plans of message credits can sometimes be very cheap if you purchase them while they are on sale.
In contrast, Promptchan utilizes gems and subscription tier system which can be a bit confusing at first but makes more sense as you become more accustomed to it. As you can see from the screenshot I grabbed, you can purchase gems (the site’s token-based currency, which is used to pay for images, among other things) in packages as small as 50 gems (originally $4.99 but was reduced to $1.49 as part of a Valentine’s Day sale).
You can purchase as many as 10,000 gems at a time which are discounted from $299.90 to just $90 (sales like this aren’t uncommon and can make it easy to accumulate a lot of gems), in addition to various other packages.
Additionally, Promptchan has several monthly subscription tiers (Plus, Premium, Pro), all of which provide a monthly allowance of gems in addition to other perks such as priority access and video capabilities. Even the basic (free) plan comes with a daily allowance of gems for users to experiment with.
Regardless, please note that all quoted prices were current at the time of publication and may have changed since then. Additionally, many of the prices I referenced were discounted as part of temporary sales. Both platforms frequently offer sales, so be sure to check both Crush On AI and Promptchan websites for the most up-to-date pricing information.
Crushon AI Safety
With Crushon, as an adult user, you can chat and roleplay NSFW, which is a trade-off. It’s less filtered and less likely to be banned, but it requires a little more responsibility on data sharing, etc. Reviewers say they will need to figure out the privacy aspect and realistic AI content, and there are rules you will have to abide by (no minors, real people, etc.).
Promptchan Safety
Similar to Crushon, Promptchan allows adult content, but a little differently. The site is very liberal about artistic content, including NSFW, but within ethical boundaries that do not include harmful or illegal topics. It’s a mix of ungoverned generation and some rails to keep you from accidentally wandering into subjects that might land you in hot water, graphically and otherwise, as well as in chat. Overall, I found the balance of freedom and safety made me feel more comfortable.
Crushon AI Support
Support for Crushon was a little more mixed. Some reviewers appreciated the support page and knowledge base, while others had issues with responses and account issues. You may have to work a little harder to get a human response to issues, which can be a little ironic if you are paying for companionship.
Promptchan Support
Support for Promptchan seems a bit more robust. Between responsiveness on the app store, transparency about the price of things, and explanations about voice, video, and Gems, you are less likely to feel left in the dark. And, given the broader nature of the community as an artistic expression, rather than individual chat, the support mechanisms seem a bit more formal and easier to access when you need them.
Conclusion
Crushon AI and Promptchan offer two styles of romance. Crushon is all about dramatic storylines and the complex give-and-take of emotional bonding, more like writing a novel together. Promptchan offers chat as well, but also visual, audio, and design elements. If you prefer your text-based, literary romance, Crushon might be the way to go. If you prefer your imaginary girlfriend to be beautiful animation or graphic, Promptchan might be more up your alley. Both are racy, both have their flaws, and both are worth trying if you want to get a feel for AI companionship.
