AI Companion Showdown – Crushon AI vs Candy AI Deep Dive

Whenever I set out to review AI GF apps, I always think to myself, “Will I be able to experience it as a girlfriend?”, and “How many dollars deep will I be once I’m finished testing it?” There are so many apps these days that it’s hard to keep track of them all, so I decided to take a few days to thoroughly test out the two that I kept coming across in r/AIgf and “best AI gf” threads, Crushon AI and Candy AI. What are the similarities, what are the differences, and which one actually provided me with the experience that I was looking for? Let’s dive into it.

Crushon AI

Crushon AI almost seems like the wild card in the AI GF space. As soon as you enter the site, you can tell that it’s primarily focused on scenarios and options. You can combine the anime style with character builders, and there is even a ranking system for creator characters so that you’re not only speaking to an AI, but you’re engaging with a diverse pool of characters. They don’t shy away from the fact that it’s sexual, and they embrace that freedom with looser content restrictions than more popular conversational AI platforms. What I like the most is the amount of options available to you, not only in conversation, but in the way that you can interact with the characters — roleplay, scenario, or simply sexy chat.

On the flip side of things, we have Candy AI. This platform is more refined, interactive, and truly feels like you are adopting a persona instead of simply chatting. The AI engine responds to your personality and adapts to your conversational style so that it actually feels like your AI GF is learning you instead of just regurgitating a response. There is a heavy emphasis on tone, as you can be light-hearted and cute, flirtatious and romantic, or deep and intimate, and the personality will maintain that tone throughout the conversation. Even on review sites, users have commented on how natural and fluid the voice response system is compared to competitors. Candy is more of a “Virtual GF” than a sexual playground.

But before we get to all these tools, think about this: are you looking for a chatbot or something that can pivot to different personas, backstories and emotional responses? The difference between models is real, and it’s what separates a basic chat from a chat that has depth. And it’s what’ll make or break this entire experience for you.

This is where Crushon AI really shines: it has a broad range of characters to choose from (from anime to fantasy to random personas and even a community leaderboard of sorts for popular characters) which means there’s a lot of diversity within the app. You’re not limited to one style of persona and can easily switch between chatty, flirtatious, deep and dark and so on without getting repetitive. This matters, particularly if you’re someone who’s going to be popping in and out and trying to figure out what works for you.

Candy AI Diversity

What Candy AI lacks in persona diversity it makes up for in emotional diversity: these models adapt to your style, mood and interaction. If you’re soft and sweet one minute and aggressive the next, the AI will do its best to adjust for this rather than reverting to a default tone. The result is deeper, more meaningful conversations where the AI actually feels like a companion that adjusts to you rather than a bot, which for most people reading this is the entire reason you pay for this kind of thing. It’s not perfect, but it’s surprisingly consistent.

Testing Natural Dialogue in the AI Chats

So, when I do a chat test, I’m not just testing for the ability to respond: I’m testing for its ability to handle transitions, emotions and loops. Crushon AI will spit out provocative, sometimes awkward responses that feel like storymode RP. Candy AI will do its best to understand what you want before mirroring it back to you; sometimes these conversations feel almost…warm?

This time I thought I’d be less subtle in my test. I went with a strong, somewhat brash question to see how the AI deals with conflict, sassiness, and control. As you can see from the image, I’m challenging the character with my question, mostly to test how far the rp system can take things and how smoothly it can escalate.

One thing that became immediately clear from Crushon AI was the level of description used. The response isn’t just a line of dialogue, it’s narrated. Actions, vocal inflections, emotional changes. The character is suspicious, a bit pushy, yet still titillated. It’s more like reading an interactive story than engaging with a basic chatbot. I was testing mainly for emotional stability and control, asking does the AI break character? Does it go into robot mode? Or does it maintain the roleplay?

Crushon AI is more focused on narrative immersion, especially when the subject matter becomes sexual. If you want to know how well that level of immersion holds up during longer conversations, I have all the details in my full Crushon AI chat test.

Candy AI Chat Test

Candy AI, however, I tested somewhat differently. I didn’t immediately ask an aggressive question. Instead, I gave the AI a “how would you react if” kind of line, a prodding question that encourages, but doesn’t force, the scenario to escalate. The result is a response that immediately moves into sexual territory, with actions and sensations described. It’s smoother, more suggestive, and certainly not as shy about jumping into sexual matters.

Primarily I was testing responsiveness. Does the AI ease into the fantasy, or does it immediately jump into sexual mode? Candy AI doesn’t fuck around. The response quickly moves into sexual touch and sexual suggestion. It’s assured, direct, and definitely into the sexual fantasy aspects. Unlike Crushon AI, which is heavier into dominance and emotional fight, Candy AI is more eager to appease the sexual fantasy aspect immediately.

Image Generation Strengths and Weaknesses

Both platforms support image generation. It works pretty much the same on both, where you can generate images of the characters you are chatting with, which further solidify the look and personality you have been establishing through your chat. Having this feature is great if you like to see your character posing, dressed or in a particular scene related to the chat.

However, remember that the quality of the image may change depending on the platform, prompt and settings you select. Not all generated images will be of high quality and detailed, and sometimes is a matter of hit or miss. Some types of images (usually more stylistic or sexualized “selfies” like images) will cost tokens and are not part of the free image generation system.

If this is your priority, I recommend you to take a look at the token system and token prices before deciding which platform to use, so you know how many tokens certain images will cost you, to know which platform will provide you with a better bang for your buck.

Crushon AI Photo Generator

I used this prompt to see just how “fantasy” the AI image generator is. As you can tell from the image, it definitely trends towards the “anime” side of things. The proportions are cartoonishly enhanced, the overall look is super glossy and refined. The lighting is muted and very controlled, the skin looks almost airbrushed, and the overall image looks “drawn” rather than photorealistic.

I mainly used this prompt to test the consistency of the level of detail, such as how symmetrical is the face? How smooth is the shading? How does it look when you zoom in on it? Overall I think Crushon AI is pretty committed to its level of stylization. It’s a very “fantasy” image and it looks very digital. If you like cartoon/anime style images of people then this might be the tool for you.

Candy AI Photo Generator

With this Candy AI image generator I wanted to test the other side of the spectrum, which is photorealism. As you can see from the generated image, it’s trying much harder to look like a photograph than a drawing. The person is situated in the “real world” and the thing that stood out to me was the depth of field. The blurred background, the natural lighting, the texture… it has a very “lifestyle photo” quality to it.

I was mainly using this prompt to test how well it could do skin texture, body proportions, and integrating with the environment. Overall, I think Candy is trending more towards photorealism and natural integration than Crushon AI is. It doesn’t look anywhere near as “drawn” and if you saw this image on your Instagram feed you might not even realize that it was AI-generated.

Crushon AI Token Pricing

Upon searching in the chat package section, it seemed to me that Crushon AI differentiates between a membership and actual messaging credits. The Pro Chat Package costs $39.99/month, and a yearly deal that costs $479.88. The yearly deal is discounted 37% in the picture, but that number is really the price they’re using as their reference point.

The Pro package unlocks unlimited conversations with Pro models, which essentially means you’re not using either your monthly or your bonus credits to chat up the fancier ladies. Below this is a “Redeem Message Credits” section, in which you can buy credits directly. I’m seeing offers for 1,000 credits for $6, 3,000 credits for $10, 8,000 credits for $25, and 18,000 credits for $50. Some of these have “Save 45%” or “Save 50%” or “Save 55%” tags on them, so yeah, they offer discounts. The discounts appear to apply only to money purchases and not to coin exchanges, which is worth noting.

Based on this, this is a pretty chat-heavy screenshot. I don’t see a price list for images and videos on this page, suggesting this page is primarily about message credits and/or the “Pro” model, and not about image/video credits. The main thing I gathered from this is that Crushon AI is very much a credit economy, but they offer the option of escaping credit counting with that unlimited Pro feature.

Crushon AI Subscription Pricing

The second screenshot is of Crushon AI’s full subscription tier list, and as you can see, there are a lot of them. Free is $0, Standard is $4.9/month, Premium is $7.9/month, Luxe is $25.0/month, Elite is $66.7/month, and Imperial is $150.0/month. Some of them list a yearly price with a strikethru, plus a “Save $21 (26% off)” or “Save $84 (47% off),” type of message, and in fact Luxe even originally cost $479.88/year, before applying the discount. So yeah, sales are definitely a big part of their playbook.

The more you go up the ladder, the more monthly message credits you have, the bigger the context memory, the more simultaneous conversations you can have on the same character, and you have access to the Pro or even Ultimate models that have more memory.

The upper plans also talk about things like VIP voices, custom voice slots, profile cards, and larger historical memory per character. The highest plan, which was originally priced at $1,799.88 per year, Imperial, certainly sends a loud message that they are gearing towards power users, who need all the limits they can get, as well as priority.

As far as I can see, this is still mostly about chat and memory. I don’t see a line for per-image or per-video generation costs, so presumably those are either included in the model costs or counted against credits instead of being itemized. I’d say Crushon AI’s pricing is tiered: there’s cheap and limited, mid-range and flexible, and then premium which removes almost all limits.

Candy AI Token Pricing

I arrived at the token page for Candy AI and, honestly, it looks like a fairly standard topping-up type deal. You can get 100 tokens for $9.99, 350 tokens for $34.99, 550 tokens for $49.99 (which gets you a +10% bonus), 1,150 tokens for $99.99 (with a +15% bonus), 2,400 tokens for $199.99 (with a +20% bonus) and 3,750 tokens for $299.99 (which gets you a +25% bonus). The more you buy, the more bonus tokens are added on. Obviously, the idea here is to encourage you to buy more.

It does explain though, what the tokens are for. AI girlfriend. AI image. Voice. So, unlike some sites where the tokens are just for chat, these are attached to media as well. I don’t see the cost per picture or video on this screenshot, but I do see that it tells you that image generation and voice require tokens. And I suppose the larger packages are if you know you want to create lots of content.

In addition, there’s a lot of promotional feel to it. The banner reads “Get an Exclusive Package Discount Only Now” and if I had to guess, they use time-sensitive offers and special packages that are frequently changed. That would explain the bonus percentages for the bigger packages. It seems like the more you buy, the more you save.

Candy AI Subscription Pricing

Over on the subscription page, we see Candy AI move out of pay-as-you-go and into a full subscription. The monthly plan is shown as $12.99 per month. We then have a 3-month plan, which is initially shown as $12.99 per month before getting a 40% discount, and a 12-month plan, initially shown as $12.99 per month before getting a 70% discount for the first subscription term. The 12-month plan is labeled “Best Choice”, and calls out that massive 70% discount, but the anchor price is still that $12.99 monthly rate before the discount.

What’s included in a Premium account is straightforward: unlimited text messages, 100 free tokens a month, custom AI girlfriend creation, image generation, no image blur, AI calls, and speed boost. And those 100 free tokens a month matter because they’re connected to image generation and voice features. If you’re creating a lot of images, you’ll need to factor those monthly tokens into the equation.

The website also talks about privacy, with “no adult transaction on your bank statement” and “100% secure payments” and the ability to “pay by card or with crypto”. The “up to 70% off” sign implies that Candy AI goes through discount periods, at least for new subscribers. In general, it seems like Candy AI is offering you two distinct paths: subscribe for chat and token refills or buy tokens if you need more content than your subscription gives you.

Which Tool Has Better Pricing Flexibility

I’ve gone over the pricing, the bundles, and I’ve tried to imagine what it would be like to actually pay for both Crushon AI and Candy AI and here’s the conclusion I’ve come to. Crushon AI is more of a credit/membership model where you can purchase messages or you can pay for a monthly subscription to use more premium models, but it’s definitely more credit based although they do offer the option to pay a monthly fee to not have to deal with credits.

The way that Candy AI operates is through a token and subscription model where you pay a monthly fee for a certain amount of usage and then you pay for tokens to access things like imagery, voice, and other special features. There are various discounts and promotions on both of their sites so the prices may vary depending on when you sign up. This is also why I always suggest verifying the current prices before purchasing a subscription.

Crushon AI Unique Feature

First screenshot is Crushon AI essentially turning the platform into a creator economy. Rather than being a “Private chat app” that’s just for you, there’s a rankings page that shows weekly and monthly top creators and characters. Top creators are displayed with a score, a character preview and a presentation that’s screaming discoverability.

What I’m doing here is checking to see if Crushon AI has that social, community aspect where creators compete for views, people are browsing popular content and characters are more “content” you follow, rather than bots you chat with. It’s a fairly overt attempt to make Crushon AI feel like a creator marketplace, rather than a chatbox.

Candy AI Unique Feature

Second screenshot is Candy AI going hard on something different, Live Action content and a level based unlock system. It appears to be a gamified menu where functions/abilities are gated by levels and xp with an option to bypass levels with tokens.

What I’m doing here is checking to see how Candy AI incorporates the idea of “progression” into the experience Like you’re unlocking more ways of interacting over time rather than having it all at the start. Ignoring the sexual aspect of this example, the special functionality is the mechanic: Levelling, Gating and token bypass. This keeps people coming back and spending, as the app always has a “next level” hanging in front of you.

Crushon AI Safety

Safety. This is the serious part. These services have to balance the desire to allow consenting adults to indulge in fantasies with the risks of abuse, exploitation, and data misuse. A report by a digital rights group said AI girlfriend apps including Crushon AI “were over-collecting personal data and had poor data protection policies”. The advice, as ever, is to exercise caution, to use strong passwords, and never reveal personal details in conversations.

Candy AI Safety

Candy AI lives in that wild west too. The consensus among reviews and beta testers is that memory usage is better and voice chat works more smoothly, but the same privacy caveats remain in play. All of them record your conversations, could be saving your preferences, and maybe using that data to train future models. With Crushon AI and Candy, I’d advise reading those TOS agreements before digging in.

I investigated what kind of support Crushon AI offers, and the answer is a little of both. There is a formal ticketing system, however, in reading community comments, I found that their response time is somewhat inconsistent. Given the public nature of the platform, most of the issues are addressed in the forums, FAQs or through the user base before support addresses it. This is common for many AI platforms as you will often be required to perform your own initial problem-solving.

I’d say that in terms of overall presentation, Candy AI wins. In general, people find that the app is a bit quicker, and the instructions are more straightforward. And since it’s more of a consumer-facing product, the guides are a bit more straightforward about what tokens get you, what benefits you receive with a subscription, and what features are currently available. That’s not to say that it’s ideal, but if you’re looking for a better understanding of how to use audio or image tokens, Candy’s help documentation can be a bit more straightforward.

Conclusion

So, which one wins? Crushon AI feels more like a game to me, where personality and diversity of personalities are prioritized. It’s edgier, and rough around the edges, and a bit wilder and crazier, which I think you might like if you’re into that sort of thing. Candy AI feels more like a chatbot, where emotions and overall personality are prioritized, and responses feel more natural and less like they’re just copying back what you say.

Both have their pros, both have their kinks, and both require you to use them as tools rather than substituting them for human interaction. Ultimately it depends on whether you prefer a ton of variety and character playtesting (Crushon AI) or a more dynamic and emotionally consistent experience (Candy).
