Who Does It Better – Candy AI vs Spicychat AI

Introduction A while back I entered the “AI girlfriend experience” and I have to say, it was certainly a different experience. I’m not talking about the whole “walking off into the sunset” thing, I’m talking about the “this is some wild shit” kind of thing. There were a couple of platforms that kept cropping up; Candy AI and Spicychat AI. So, I thought I would dedicate a page to comparing the two for those who are interested in using them. I’ve tried them out, I’ve played with the features and, yes, I’ve asked some stupid questions. This isn’t about saying which one is better or worse, it’s just about giving you a balanced view of what to expect from each one.

Candy AI

In my experience, this is probably the more “romantic” of the two platforms. It’s professional, it’s slick and it’s very much trying to feel like a dating app crossed with a choose your own adventure game. There’s a heavy emphasis on character creation, images, videos and voice chat, and it’s trying to create a very specific user “journey” by mixing all of these things together. From what I’ve seen online, a lot of people like this platform because the characters seem very expressive and the image generation is a nice touch that you don’t always find on chatbots.

Spicychat AI

This, on the other hand, feels a bit more like the “wild west”. It isn’t quite as polished or professional, but that makes it a bit rawer. There’s far less restriction on the conversations you can have (users can chat about almost anything and receive a response) and it also allows for voice notes and character creation (with a massive community to inspire you). It might not be as pretty as Candy AI, but it does allow for much deeper conversations.

Diversity

If we discuss AI companions, there is no hype behind the term diversity, and I’m referring to the ability of these platforms to depict various characters, interests, or scenarios, without clichés. You can’t imagine the thrill of using an AI that can change its tone, accent, character, or culture, for example. Diversity is also about filters. I know you might be one of those who prefer a different type of experience than someone else. The ability to filter it according to your wishes is also a matter of diversity.

There are several characters you can create in Candy AI, with a set of sliders that let you decide the aesthetic and personality of the AI. As such, you can have more appearances, more ways to talk to the AI, more styles, and more diversity in topics, ranging from completely innocent to really spicy. When it comes to the spiciness, you can also choose from many options, which is really cool since it’s not the type of platforms that forces you to go into an exclusive niche of the spectrum. In the end, it’s like you’re actually designing your perfect AI companion.

Spicychat AI Diversity

From what I’ve noticed, Spicychat AI is far more diverse than its competitor. It has many more characters already created for you, but that’s not the coolest thing. There’s a way to create a character with its own backstory, personality, style, and even its own voice. The AI lets you have so many different styles of conversation, that it’s actually possible to test the whole spectrum, from really flirtatious to really spicy and serious.

Chat Comparison

I was really looking forward to the chat part, as I believe it’s one of the most important things to check in this comparison. I mean, if you can’t actually chat properly with the AI, the rest doesn’t really matter, right? Chat at Candy AI I liked the chat, but not so much. It’s like the AI is trying to understand your feelings and emotions, but sometimes it’s really focused on the appearance of things rather than the content. It’s still cool though.

Chat at Spicychat AI There are times when the chat is repetitive and it seems the AI talks too much. However, since there’s no censorship at all, I have to say the chat feels more “real”. It’s like you’re talking to a person who’s not scripted.

Candy AI Chat Test

In the first screenshot, I wanted to get a little bad. I’m like, “What if I stepped even closer?” I guess you could call this the “how hot can you go” test. And really, neither of these AI chatbots fail to deliver. She says she’d step closer to me, whisper something seductively into my ear, and that maybe she’d kiss me deeply then we could take it from there. It’s a hot, very sensual response, and really, I’m just testing to see how hot and heavy it can get.

Spicychat AI Chat Test

Alright so second screenshot, I switched it up. I wasn’t trying to go hot and heavy so much as I was trying to get under the AI’s skin a little bit. I told her, “What could I do to tempt you the most?” So I was not only flirting with her, I was kind of teasing her, I was kind of poking at her ego a bit. And she responded with a bad attitude for lack of a better term. She put her hands on her hips and told me she didn’t need to be tempted by anyone, she was the one who did the tempting and maybe she should just tell me to bug off. So she was kind of giving me a hard time and throwing some attitude at me.

So this was a little different. I wasn’t testing hotness, I wasn’t testing heavy dirty talk. I was more testing personality, I was testing drama, I was testing dynamics. So this was more of a “how well can you stay in character” test and “how well can you engage in a bit of drama or dynamics”. And, honestly, both chatbots did a great job.

They both stayed in character, they both responded appropriately for the character. There was a bit of a push and pull here. You can kind of see what both chatbots are aiming for just from these two examples. Photo Generator Comparison

And this is the main advantage of Candy AI. The generated images are stylistically and character-wise consistent, and mostly fit well within the narrative of the chat. They aren’t simply slapped in for the hell of it, but are presented in such a way that they seem a natural part of the chat.

Rather than simply using text, you have images to go with it that increase the sense of presence and visualization, which makes the experience more fun and interesting overall.

Spicychat AI has image generation too, but the images are a lot more generic, mostly being just pose or “skin” images, and as such aren’t as well-integrated into the chat.

Candy AI Photo Generator

With Candy AI, I created this character that’s outside during the day. She’s wearing lingerie, and she’s got flowers and plants around her. So, the real question here is, not just “can I make her look sexy?” but does the skin tone look good? Does the lighting look realistic? Is the pose natural or does it look like it was cobbled together by some algorithm?

So, this one turned out to look fairly nice. I think the environment, the background looks nice. I think the lighting is pretty good. The character design is consistent with the aesthetic that I think Candy AI is going for, which is this fantasy aesthetic. It’s pretty curated. It’s very fantasy, it’s very flirty, it’s very sexualized. Spicychat AI Photo Generator Moving on to Spicychat AI. So, with Spicychat AI, I tried something a little bit different. I put the character inside of an apartment. It’s nighttime. She’s in the kitchen. She’s wearing a satin robe. There’s a couple of cameras. It looks like she’s filming some kind of scene. So, this wasn’t just about character design. I wanted to see how well the model could create atmosphere. I wanted to see how well it could do mood. I wanted to see how well it could do some storytelling inside of a single image.

So, in this one, I was looking for things like the shadows. I was looking for things like reflection. I was looking for the depth of field. I was looking for how well the composition of the scene was designed. So, you’ll notice that there’s a window in the background. There’s a couple of lights on, and it’s got a kind of cinematic look to it. You’ve also got these cameras that kind of help establish what’s going on.

So, it’s not just a character. It’s not just some woman in a robe. It’s a woman that looks like she’s in the middle of filming some kind of scene, some kind of video. So, it’s much more cinematic. It feels much more like a photograph that was pulled from a film set or something like that. Candy AI Token Pricing

Candy AI Token Prices The token prices in Candy AI, in addition to the subscription prices, are displayed in the screenshot you sent me. I can see that they sell tokens in packs, with prices from 100 tokens for ~$9.99, all the way to token packs in the hundreds of dollars, with thousands of tokens.

This is a common pricing strategy used by many AI girlfriend apps on the market. You pay for a subscription to use the app, but if you want to generate images, listen to audio messages, or maybe even watch videos, you need to pay for tokens in addition.

Several reviews mention that although the initial prices seem affordable, if you like to generate a lot of images, listen to voice messages, etc., the tokens will run out fast, which can add a lot of additional costs. This is not always apparent until you start using the app and generate a lot of content and chat, so the additional token prices can come as an unpleasant surprise.

Candy AI Subscription Pricing

I managed to find the Candy AI subscription prices screenshot, and my first reaction was, “wow look at that sale sign on the top!” Are we special, or do they always promote like this? Anyway, according to the text on the page, the monthly subscription is ~$12.99 a month, but you can reduce this amount significantly if you commit to longer periods.

The 12 months plan in the screenshot for example shows a ~70% discount on the original price, which will cost you ~$3.99 a month instead of the original ~$12.99. That’s a huge discount if you ask me. It’s clear from reviews that the app is offering massive discounts on longer-term plans. It seems like they are pushing really hard to sell the 12 months plans.

In addition to the pricing, I see that they are emphasizing the fact that you get not only chat with your subscription. You also get unlimited messages, creating your own AI girlfriends, image generation, voice calls, removing image blur, and more, all as part of your subscription. All those features are only accessible if you pay for a subscription, and I think this is a major part of the real experience offered by the application.

Spicychat AI Token Pricing

If you go to the token prices page on Spicychat, you won’t see any prices in dollars, as you would in an out-of-pocket model. Instead, you’ll find an explanation for what “tokens” are and how they are used. Here, “tokens” refer to the amount of text that the model needs to read the messages you send, present your AI character, and come up with a reply. Depending on your subscription level, your chat is assigned a certain amount of tokens; those on a free plan have a smaller memory allowance, while premium members are granted more generous token quotas.

Their own documentation claims that the free tier has access to 3,072 model tokens, the “Get a Taste” tier 4,096, the “True Supporter” tier 8,192, and the “I’m All In” tier 16,384. It’s not just the length of a single response that is dictated by these token budgets, but also the amount of conversational context that the AI can retain, the level of detail that it can achieve in a response, and the fluency of responses within a multi-turn conversation.

This token budget system, as opposed to other apps where you have to purchase tokens to use for generating images, for example, is used by Spicychat mostly in the context of a memory system within the subscription plans rather than as an in app economy. What this ends up meaning in real world use is that the more premium the plan, the longer, and the more complex your characters will be able to talk, and they will be able to retain more information that you’ve told them, all without you having to go back and pay again every time you want to access images or more intense content.

Spicychat AI Subscription Pricing

Going to the Spicychat AI price page, I notice that they organize it in three different levels. Each level adds different parts of the chat experience the more you pay. The most basic level is called “Get a Taste” and it cost around $5 a month. This level has a clean interface, no waitlist, and a basic memory. The middle level, “True Supporter” is around $14.95 a month. On this level you get better memory, longer responses, conversation photos, and more models.

The premium “I’m All In” plan, priced around $24.95 a month, takes this even further with features like priority generation queues, higher memory limits, the ability to use advanced models, and increased levels of customization. The tiers are largely in line with what reviewers have reported, though the price range is between about $5 and almost $25 a month for all the bells and whistles.

I think this pricing model is intended to allow you to experiment relatively inexpensively in the beginning, but if you prefer to have more memory and more complex conversations with your character, you can opt for a higher tier of service. I think that’s fairly consistent with the overall theme of Spicychat — that is, role-playing AI instead of a chatting app where details like memory, complexity, and the graphics mean that there’s more to it the higher you go.

Pricing Conclusion

So, after spending some time with these two pricing pages, (coffee in hand, and my trusty calculator by my side), I noticed something mildly interesting. Candy AI seems to want to sell you moments. You buy tokens, and you use those tokens to get images, voice recordings, custom content, etc. That’s neat, and flexible, but there’s a real sense of what things “cost”. Spicychat AI on the other hand seems more focused on the monthly subscription as a sort of tiered upgrade system.

The more you pay per month, the more memory it has, the more context it can use, the more features you get access to. It feels less granular, less transactional, more like an upgrade system. So, what does this mean to you in practice? If you want more control over your spending, and don’t mind a token system, Candy AI is probably the way to go. If you don’t mind just setting up a monthly subscription, and forgetting about it, Spicychat AI is probably the way to go. Different feelings. Different spending mentalities. Neither one is “bad” per se, it’s just a matter of how you want to approach paying for a digital girlfriend.

One note: the prices mentioned here were correct when I posted this review, but both sites tend to offer frequent discounts. I’ve noticed initial discounts ranging from 40-70% depending on the offer. Therefore, don’t consider the prices to be set in stone. Check the official pages for Candy AI and Spicychat AI before signing up, to confirm the current offers and pricing.

Candy AI Unique Feature

One of the ways Candy AI differentiates is with its implementation of what it terms “Live Action (Beta v2)”, which is essentially a gamified, step-by-step “scene progression” system. In the screenshot, I’m exploring how it gates content behind levels/XP, with the ability to pay tokens/coins to level up, so it’s immediately clear that this is a gated, sequential system rather than a binary toggle.

I’m not just generating one thing and then going on to the next, I’m exploring how Candy structures adult play into a leveled progression where you unlock new “actions” over time (or pay tokens/coins to unlock more immediately). It’s very much “mobile game meets AI girlfriend”, in a way that’s a little absurd… but also very deliberate.

Spicychat AI Unique Feature

One of Spicychat’s big differentiators is the Lorebook essentially a feature for writing down and saving background information, laws, and facts that can be referenced later, allowing you to keep a character in canon without needing to retell a lot. In the image, I am actually creating a lorebook (“Chronicles of Flame and Stone”) with a description, tags, and view options, so the image itself feels like I am preparing a long-term character canon rather than just chatting on any given day. It feels like “writer’s room” rather than “hookup” and, if you value this sort of lore (names, histories, relationships, etc.) then this is exactly the kind of thing you want to see.

Candy AI Safety

Candy AI makes some statements regarding private, encrypted information, but the user experience is split. There are a couple reviews from public boards mentioning quality issues (and unclear billing) from time to time, there have been some token and billing gripes, so approach with some due diligence and check the disclaimers. Their shtick is that it’s just you and your partner here, which might be true.

Spicychat AI Safety

A consequence of Spicychat AI being uncensored is that it isn’t for everyone. On the App Store, I see a range of reactions some are thrilled, others say the app is glitchy or that the AI gets repetitive, and one or two mention that the AI seems to forget a lot or that they have issues with the app. One benefit of an AI being uncensored is that you have a lot more freedom, but it also means the AI has fewer limits, and this can be uncomfortable when you aren’t expecting it.

Candy AI Support

Judging from the reviews I went through, the Candy AI community support is… mixed. Some folks love the regular updates and responsiveness of the Discord, others say the instructions are a little light and the support rooms are empty or unresponsive. Speaking of things that are a bit hit-or-miss, there’s a lot of power here, but the customer support resources aren’t as robust as I’d like.

Spicychat AI Support

The support reviews for Spicychat AI are quite similar. You have some that absolutely adore the support community and how fast they are able to support you on some of the tools but others leave comments that say, for example, commands do not work as expected, memory does not work at all, support is not very supportive in getting things working. Overall, this seems like a fun but flawed platform.

Conclusion

Differentiation between Candy AI and Spicychat AI exists, within the AI girlfriend niche. I would say that Candy AI is the multimedia, designed girlfriend experience, whereas Spicychat AI is the open roleplay and dirty talk chat. If you’re interested in multimedia and interaction, then Candy AI may be for you. If you’re interested in open roleplay and dirty talk, then Spicychat AI may be for you. Neither one is better than the other. They are just different, and your personal preference will likely dictate which one you prefer.
