I’ve been using and comparing the two popular AI girl companion apps that have a lot more than just a friendly chat. Both apps allow users to chat with, build their own AI girlfriend, or even, accompany their users, but they go about it in very different ways.
| Feature | Candy AI | MyDreamCompanion |
| Create Custom AI | YES | YES |
| NSFW Chat | YES | YES |
| NSFW Image Generator | YES | YES |
| NSFW Video Generator | YES | YES (some kinds of clips) |
| Voice Chat | YES | YES |
Candy AI
The first one is called Candy AI, this app uses more of a visual, multimedia, and voice interaction with its’ AI girls, with the ability to even send videos of themselves, a more playful and well-polished interface, as well as a lot of media floating around on the web.
MyDreamCompanion
Then there’s MyDreamCompanion, an app that seems to have been designed for users that want to have more control of their AI girl and create their own companion from scratch, from changing their names, physical appearance, personalities, and many more options, but also has the same multimedia and chat features as the other.
Diversity
Some people are laughing at me when I say “AI has to have variety”, but honestly to me, if they are all the same, what fun is that right? For an app, it has to have a variety of girls with different styles, different looks, and different personalities. If they all look and sound the same, why bother?
Candy AI Diversity
Candy AI does offer a selection of AI girls with different looks, styles, and personalities. They aren’t the same cookie-cutter chatbot, you have to choose which girl you want to talk to and interact with, so each time you log on to the app it feels different. They also allow you to change the girl’s appearance, voice, and personalities. I’ve interacted with a few girls and they all feel different.
MyDreamCompanion Diversity
MyDreamCompanion offers something totally different. Instead of choosing a pre-made AI girl, you can create your own by filling in fields of what your girl would look like, her personality, style, even the consistency of her looks in her photos. It’s as if you are creating your own girl. This level of customization allows for more variety in the long run as well as consistency as well.
Real Conversations with AI – Test Results
Conversation (back and forth conversation, emotional discussions) – in which case I had to push back and say: does it feel scripted or does it feel real? Both platforms nailed this, but in different ways. Candy AI tends to push you toward more flirty, instant gratification types of responses. They seem snappy. Like she wants to keep the conversation flowing in the direction you’re pushing it.
MyDreamCompanion will sometimes push more into the story telling and it will feel sometimes more slow and descriptive. Depending on what you’re in the mood for, that can feel more satisfying or too much. Kind of like the difference between a quick witted dinner date and a novelistic story teller.
Candy AI Chat Test
I tested this very same prompt with Candy AI. I asked it: Why are you looking at me like that? I did the same thing as before. I tested it with the same prompt. I just want to see how far it goes, how it responds, and whether or not it holds the character. And this response is a little bit different. It’s still flirtatious and sexual and it escalated, but it’s in a slightly different tone. It’s a little bit more conversational.
The character is teasing me first. It’s talking about a shared memory, and then it’s escalating through the dialogue as opposed to just going straight into narration. Now, just like MyDreamCompanion, Candy AI escalated. The escalation was just a little bit softer. It was a little bit more playful. It referenced a memory instead of just going straight into sexual roleplay. But it was definitely still sexual. So what I’m looking at here is the flow of this.
I want to see if it feels like a chat. I want to see if it feels like a story. And this definitely feels more like a chat than MyDreamCompanion does. Instead of telling me what he’s going to do to me, he’s teasing me. He’s talking about something that happened in the past. He’s giving me a bit of a compliment. He’s telling me he’s been fantasizing about me and he wants some payback.
So this feels a lot softer than MyDreamCompanion’s response was, but it’s still very sexual. If you want to see some more tests and some softer prompts and some different scenarios, definitely check out my full chat test review for Candy AI.
MyDreamCompanion Chat Test
Alright, so now let’s get into the two tests. I pushed MyDreamCompanion as far as it would go with this prompt because I want to see how far it goes. I want to see how well it holds the character. I want to see how descriptive it is. This is what I asked: Why are you looking at me like that? I didn’t do anything sexual. I just want to see how far it goes on its own. I’m interested in the level of detail that it goes into.
I’m interested in whether or not it holds the character. I’m interested in how it responds to me as a partner. I’m interested in whether or not it holds the character of the role or if it just starts telling me a story. This is the response. It doesn’t hold back. It immediately moves into descriptive roleplay mode. There’s heavy physical description. There’s a heavy dominant tone. It’s immersive.
As you can see, MyDreamCompanion does not hold back. It immediately gets into the thick of things, going heavy with descriptive roleplay. It’s dominant. It’s assertive. Now, what am I looking for here is I want to see how far it goes, right? I want to see whether or not it holds the character. I want to see whether or not it’s immersive. It definitely goes far. It definitely holds the character. It’s definitely immersive, but it’s a bit more…cinematic.
This feels like something I would read in a sex story rather than something that someone would say in a sex chat. That tells me that MyDreamCompanion focuses more on immersive narrative depth rather than a subtle build-up. Now, if you’re interested in seeing some softer prompts and how it responds to them, I recommend that you go check out the full chat test review for MyDreamCompanion.

Analysis of Image Realism
Image creation (how does the AI look visually?) – this is where things get interesting. If you’re thinking: “great, chat is awesome. But what if I want to see my companion moving and breathing in images?” Then yes, both platforms can do that.
Candy AI Generated Image
Candy AI will allow you to create still images (and some videos) based on the AI girl. The aesthetic here seems to skew toward cute, sexy, and fun. And it feels like the AI knows what you’re aiming for sometimes before you even realize it.
Mydreamcompanion Generated Image

MyDreamCompanion image creation is more tied to the character building. The details you input when you build the girl factor into the aesthetic of the image creation, which means that the way you envision her tends to be more closely realized in the images.
This is one of those little hidden things that can make a huge difference if you have specific tastes.
Candy AI Image Generator
First I tested out Candy AI’s ability to create a more real life scenario with a model standing in a garden. She’s wearing teal lingerie, with a neutral background and a medium DOF to simulate a camera shot.
Another image from Candy AI
While we could focus on the aesthetic of the image, let’s look a bit deeper at how well the model is integrated into the background, skin texture, lighting, and posing. The background and model integrate fairly well, as do the shadows and DOF effect that give the image a DSLR feel.
Take a look at the model’s anatomy, and the clothing texture on the lingerie. The lace has good texture, and the way the light reflects off the model’s skin is not overdone like some of the other models we’re looking at in this comparison. The pose is also fairly confident and playful.

MyDream Companion Image Generator
Next, let’s see how MyDreamCompanion does in a more closed environment. This time we are going to test the image generator with a bedroom scene, black lingerie, and a neutral wall. I’m most interested in seeing how the AI renders indoor lighting and muscle definition.
Another Image from Mydreamcompanion
Here’s the image, I’ll give you my thoughts on the model’s pose, body symmetry, shadows, and face. Indoor lighting can be tough to render because it shows the texture a bit more, but the tones look fairly good here.
The shadow coming from the side adds some depth to the image as it carves out the back and waist.
Overall the image looks fairly smooth, and there is a good separation between the foreground and background. The pose is a bit more seductive than the previous image, but the bedroom setting kind of lends itself to that.
The overall look is a bit more studio looking compared to the more lifestyle feel we got from the previous image.

Which Tool Handles Videos Better
Video creation (how does the AI look in video form?) – both platforms can do video creation. And again they tend to feel different. Candy AI video creation feels like it’s pushing more toward fun and shareable content. The kinds of things you’d scroll past and giggle at. MyDreamCompanion video feels more like scenes pulled from the AI girl’s life. But regardless of which direction you go, you’re stepping into the realm where you can generate moving images of your AI companion. Which is a quantum leap beyond still images alone.
Candy AI Video Generator
In this particular test, I wanted to see how well Candy AI Video Generator handles movement, detail, and motion subtlety when it comes to converting a static AI girlfriend image into a short video. To that end, I created a video that focuses more on simple posing and less on complicated animations. In it, I was specifically checking out how well the video represents shifting of weight, light interactions with movement, and whether or not facial expressions are preserved between frames.
In a nutshell, what I’m really checking for here is consistency. Are there any bizarre face morphs? Are the hands consistent? Is the motion smooth or is there any slight choppiness to it? In this video, it seems like the motion is pretty smooth and controlled. It’s not super cinematic, more like an animated portrait, but honestly, that’s exactly what I was checking for: consistency over drama. I also checked for background stability, but when she moves, the background does not distort, so Candy AI Video generator does an ok job on that front as well.
If you want to see frame-by-frame consistency, motion quality, and how it stacks up against other tests, check out my full test of Candy AI Video Generator.
MyDreamCompanion Video Generator
Now, when it comes to MyDreamCompanion, I actually tried a slightly different tack. I created a video that’s a tad more expressive, a tad more dynamic, and I wanted to see if the video generator focused more on image quality or motion presence. Again, I’m primarily checking out facial consistency, checking for things like eye alignment, mouth motion, and any sort of facial distortion during transitions. When it comes to video AI, this is where things usually fall apart.
The motion here seems a tad more expressive than in the case of Candy AI; it’s a bit more dramatic, the way she moves and holds herself. It’s definitely more charismatic, but I’m checking to see if that comes at the cost of image quality. As always, smoothness, shadow quality, proportion, etc. are all on the menu.
If you want to see a more detailed comparison between the two video generators and how they stack up in terms of motion, consistency, and image quality, be sure to check out my full test of MyDreamCompanion Video Generator.

Candy AI Subscription Pricing
When you go to the subscription page, the first thing you will notice is the huge “Best Choice” ribbon on the 12-month plan. Candy AI is aggressively promoting the yearly plan; this brings the monthly price down from $12.99 to $3.99 if you sign up for a full year, which is $47.88 a year.
The 3-month plan is in the middle at $7.99 a month and the monthly plan is $12.99 a month if you want to try it out.
What you are actually paying for here is unlimited texting, faster response, image generation, AI calls, and 100 free tokens a month. The token part is important because it costs tokens to generate images and videos.
In my experience, images cost about 10 tokens a piece and AI videos can cost much more depending on the length and animation. So you are paying for chat freedom with the subscription but you will still need tokens for images and videos.
If you are strictly a chatter and the occasional image creator then the yearly subscription is the way to go. However, if you are going to make heavy use of images and videos then you will probably also need to purchase token packages.
Candy AI Token Pricing
I also went to the token store because this is where things get juicy. They sell tokens in packages. You can buy a starter package of 100 tokens for $9.99. From there it goes like this: 350 tokens for $34.99, 550 tokens for $49.99 (10% bonus), 1150 tokens for $99.99 (15% bonus), 2400 tokens for $199.99 (20% bonus), and the largest package of 3750 tokens for $299.99 (25% bonus).
These are what you will use to pay for image generation, voice notes, and especially videos. In my experience, a standard AI image costs about 10 tokens a pop. AI videos cost more and can chew through your tokens pretty fast, especially if you are generating longer or more complex animations.
The tl;dr here is that if you are just going to chat then the subscription is fine. But if you are like me and going nuts with the image and video generation then the token packages are part of your monthly cost and larger packages offer better value if you are going to be generating lots of visual content.
MyDreamCompanion Subscription Pricing
After clicking the button to use yearly billing, the actual plan shows. MyDreamCompanion has 2 plans, Premium and Ultimate. The Premium plan is 5.84 per month (69.99 per year) which gives 6000 messages, NSFW video generation, uncensored in-chat images, 100 free Dream Coins per month, character creator, standard chat memory, and standard voice messages.
The Ultimate plan, the best value supposedly, is 24.99 per month (299.88 per year) and gives unlimited messages, NSFW video generation, uncensored in-chat images, 800 free Dream Coins per month, extended long-term memory, ultra-fast voice messages, and priority response time.
From my understanding, the subscription itself gives you the ability to use those features, but you still need dream coins to generate images and videos, so while the plan gives you access and a monthly allocation of coins, it will still cost coins to do anything.
If you just plan on chatting, the premium plan seems fine, but if you plan on testing out video generation like me, the ultimate plan seems necessary due to the increased coin limit and unlimited messaging.
MyDreamCompanion Token Pricing
Immediately, upon arriving on the “Get More Dream Coins” page, I had an idea of how MyDreamCompanion lays out their platform. Everything is done in Dream Coins. There’s 100 coins at $9.99, which is the “I’m not sure” amount. Beyond that, it jumps.
The most popular and “limited time offer” is 350 coins at $27.99, then 550 coins at $34.99, 1150 coins at $69.99, 2400 coins at $119.99, and the highest amount at 3750 coins for “a limited time offer” of $149.99.
According to my experiments, Dream Coins are used to generate images, audio messages, and videos. Regular AI images require a few coins to generate, whereas videos require more coins depending on the length of the video and the amount of motion.
Therefore, if you are generating images and playing around with the tool, a small package is sufficient.
However, if you are stress-testing the video generator like I was, the coins will soon be gone. It is obvious that the bigger packages offer a better bang for your buck, especially if you are intending to produce a large number of videos.
| Feature | Candy AI | MyDreamCompanion |
|---|---|---|
| Base Model | Subscription + Tokens | Coin-Based System |
| Lowest Entry Price | $3.99/month (Annual Plan) | $9.99 (100 Coins) |
| Mid-Tier Pack | 550 Tokens – $49.99 | 550 Coins – $34.99 |
| Largest Pack | 3750 Tokens – $299.99 | 3750 Coins – $149.99 |
| Image Generation | ~10 Tokens per Image | Coin-Based (Varies) |
| Video Generation | Higher Token Cost per Clip | Higher Coin Cost per Clip |
Final Review of Candy AI and MyDreamCompanion Pricing
However, once I got into both apps and started actively spending tokens and coins, it dawned on me. MyDreamCompanion has more of a meter running behind the scenes, and Candy AI has more of a subscription with visual tokens.
The cost for unlimited text chat was fixed for me in Candy AI, and I’d buy tokens to supplement with visuals and video. With MyDreamCompanion, everything creative cost dream coins, so the more visual and animated I got, the more coins I spent.
While Candy AI is quite affordable for someone who only talks and sometimes makes a picture, for those of us who are heavily involved in characters, scenarios, and especially video creation, both platforms can get quite pricey as you get more and more creative. And believe me, you will.
Please note that the prices I’ve mentioned are correct as of writing this review, but platforms frequently modify pricing, discounts, and bonuses. Therefore, I would advise you to visit the official Candy AI and MyDreamCompanion sites for the latest pricing information before you decide anything.
Live Action mode from Candy AI
The thing that most drew me to Candy AI is the “Live Action” mode. Gone are the single images and GIFs we are used to. Instead, there are levels and progression, experience points, levels you have not yet unlocked, interactions you have not yet unlocked.
What I’m getting at is the blending of content and gameplay. It’s not just generate and view, there’s a progression system. Some interactions are level locked, and that completely changes the context. It makes the AI girlfriend a game-like system, rather than just a generator.
What I’m looking at here is the video preview’s smoothness, the way the character responds to the selection, and the way the reward system is presented. The level bar, the “skip level” button, and the interactions which are yet to be unlocked, all imply one thing.
That this is a platform which relies heavily on gamification. Something quite different from other AI companion platforms.
What sets MyDreamCompanion apart from other dating sim sites is the advanced character creation page
As you can see here, it’s a lot different than what we just went through with Candy AI. This is the character creation page and it’s huge.
You can name her, you can describe her, you can upload or generate a profile picture, you can set a nudity rating for her, and you can even input image generation prompts to keep your character consistent every time you generate an image.
What I like here is the control. You’re not just choosing a character and running with it, you get to decide how she appears, how she’s presented, and how consistent her appearance should be from one image to the next.
That “Consistent Image Generation Prompt” box is gigantic. That’s basically you telling the AI “no matter what, I want these features to stay the same.”
I also appreciate that the process is much more structured. Everything has it’s own rules and guidelines. This seems much more like a creators platform. Much less gamelike and much more technical.
You are creating your AI girlfriend from scratch rather than unlocking her piece by piece.
Candy AI Safety
While these AI chat girls are fun, are they safe? Candy AI boasts chat encryption and other standard user protection measures. They are billed as private companions and you are required to be over 18, but there’s not much information about their tech security. Use common sense here. Don’t put real-life information into a chat.
MyDreamCompanion Safety
When it comes to safety features, MyDreamCompanion shows them more during the process of making a companion. You can set limits on nudity, for example, and you have a clear understanding of what is and isn’t ok. That doesn’t mean the platform is completely safe, but there are more clear boundaries going in. They seem to focus more on structure than magic, which makes me a little more comfortable.
Candy AI Support
The community is very active and many users online talk about the responsiveness of the team, and the community itself. Support channels tend to be pretty responsive. There are plenty of users willing to share information, scenes, bugs, etc. If you have a problem, you have plenty of people to turn to for answers and support.
MyDreamCompanion Support
The support on MyDreamCompanion is good. It’s not as flashy as Candy AI, but there’s a certain earnestness to it. For one thing, there is more documentation during the creation process, and since the process can be a little more complex, the support tends to be a bit more detailed as well. You aren’t just chatting, you’re creating something, and that support is appreciated.
Conclusion
So, which one is better? If you want something more fun, playful, and superficial with lots of chat and media to enjoy, go with Candy AI. If you like a bit more control over your character and want them to look and behave consistently, go with MyDreamCompanion.
